Hi guys,

As per a previous thread im delving into learning web design to accompany a small business I am starting.

There are many useful guides on the web for learning but I would quite like a book to read offline or maybe have by my side whilst tinkering with code.

Can anyone recommend a book which is a fast track to learning web design, promoting good standards and giving tips on how to organise code efficiently. HTML,CSS, maybe some ASP and PHP ?

I guess I need something fairly up to date.

Cheers guys.

HEAD FIRST COLLECTION:

Web design
HTML with CSS & XHTML
PHP & MySQL

Good beginner books that help the info stay in.

Not as indepth as some will like but they will give you a good firm footing.

You can learn how to be a web developer , but as per your previous thread, if you have no creativity you're going to find it EXTREMELY hard to "learn" design.

You can learn the technical side of it, the correct terminology, use of colours and type, but if you are uncreative you are going to struggle with creating designs.

There is no fast track to learning web design, it is a gradual and continuous process which takes years and years of constant learning/designing. Web development you can learn but make sure when you are asking for help you know that DESIGN IS NOT DEVELOPMENT. They are 2 separate things that every person starting in the web industry/business needs to know!

Noted ! :)

tsinc has made a very good point.

I suck at web design, well, actually, I am quite good at getting the design down on to paper my issue lies with then getting it from paper on to the PC :(

I end up getting my brother-in-law to do the graphical side for me :)

Cheers guys. After much deliberation I have decided to find a pro designer.
