Wedding Budget

Not cheap, but pretty good by all accounts...

I met him last Friday!

Personally i adore Duncn Kerridge's work. The guy is a genius, a bit too much B&W to my liking but you can't deny he is worth every penny.

Marieanne Taylor is also someone i like, different feel in her work completely, it has a gentle touch feel that it's hard to explain.

Thanks all for your advice.

The GF browses the Photo threads quite a bit, and has mentioned a few names which have been posted here by others.

We had a chat last night, and after lots of lists and lots of sums we came to a budget of around £2000, give or take. Hopefully this will get us someone a little better than average.

Phate: We'll have a look at those sites when she gets home from work, thanks.

I get the feeling that the photo's are more important to her than me :D

This may not go down well, but I actually preferred our wedding video over our photos, and it was something I was dead against before the wedding. £800 vs £2500 and I preferred the cheaper option. :D

The "problem" with me is that StillMotion has set the bar for me, so I rather not get any video if they don't turn out to be that standard.

I think ours cost about a grand, she was a lovely lady who fit in well on the day. The photos were nice, to be honest for me it was more about albums for the parents. I can't say I've looked at the album more than a couple of times over the years. I guess now that I appreciate photography more I can see where they could be improved upon...

Actually I thought it was fun and upbeat, and not serious intimidating, you know kind of what most people would want from a wedding photographer.
But having said that, at times I'l concede it seems a bit too try hard, which customers won't find attractive.

@ TA

The last supper you did, is really good!

Thanks for the crit, wording is on our list of things to tweak! Drop me an email if you want, haven't had that much outside input.

Also got to change over to a new gallery system too, which is 1000 times better, just a lot of exporting to do!

See, I wasn't lying :p.

StillMotion are good, but I would say that the location and setting certainly boosters the showreel a massive amount, and there's quite a few shots in there that look like they're set or staged. They've basically got a 5D on a steadicam, so minus the beautiful location it's certainly nothing we couldn't produce.

Good thread, I am getting married soon (sep 10 or Jan/Apr 11 if need to delay due to work) but havent even thought about a photographer!! Luckily our wedding is mid week so should be able to get one - only problem is budget!!

We paid a little over £3,000 an got an AMAZING photographer - friends, family, and colleagues comment that our pictures could be in a wedding magazine, and I have to admit, I am truly happy with them.

The price included an engagement photo shoot, coverage on the day, a gorgeous wedding album, all the photos on disc, a parent album, and photo slideshow.

For what we got I thought this was excellent value. Also my photographer offered a 'wedding album registry' and many of our guests chose to contribute towards the cost of the album, so in the end, we actually only paid about £1200 ourselves. (The gifts add up quickly!!)

My top tip is to ask to see a minimum of three whole albums. Our photographer showed us 10-15!!! If you would be happy getting exactly what you see, then it might be the right photographer for you.
