I have to say it has been great fun doing the 5.05pm check on STEAM each day...

and then comes along Star Trek online - at £49.99

I really hope no-one pays that. You hope they get the message that cheaper games go a long way towards increasing purchases.

Naah -- you always, with EVERY new fangled thing (not just games) -- rip off the early adopters then price realistically for the mass market.

Happens with everything - as there are always idiots with too much money in the world who will pay WAY TOO MUCH (read £10,000) to get their hands, first, on the new 'Plasma X1231 LCD integrated super-duper quad-resolution HD television' (or whatever) !

Obviously the same TV will be £980 1 year later ..

i paid £50, im not bothered i know this is a game im going to enjoy. You know when you play something and you feel like giving that extra little bit because you feel the game is worth it? well there you go that is what the deluxe edition is for :)

You can get the game cheaper elsewhere however you don't get any of the things which steam are offering which from reading about seem to be rather good. With game you get an extra gun and with amazon you get a borg for your deck or something.

When I saw I first thought it was another steam typo and it was meant to be $49.99 but hey its still there today...oh well...if people are stupid enough to buy it for that...

Why?

The monthly fee is for server maintenance, content patches and in-game support.

The game also includes a month free, so you can technically knock £10 off the price straight away.

Blizzard make millions in profit and the monthly subscription covers way more than just server costs and support.
