weight issues, diet pills and a general get-it-off-your-chest-moment

Don't worry about it any loss is good loss. This game isn't a sprint :)

Indeed, it took years for you OP to put on the weight, it's going to take years for it to come off, too. Keep chipping away at it. Or should that be carroting.

I know there are folks on here who have shed stones in mere months but I can't for the life of me understand how that's possible unless they're in the gym morning noon and night.

If you've ever read through the thread in my sig you will see that I'm much the same as you I plough on for a bit make some good losses then something will come up that will throw me for a bit and I'll put some chub back on and then I'll sort it and be back to losing.
Even though I may bounce back up to a weight that I once was I still look miles better due to the added muscle, so it can be a bit of a knock when I jump on the scales and see that in the 2.5yrs I've been going down the weight loss road I've only lost maybe 2st of scale weight I can then have a flick through my pictures and still see a massive improvement in my body shape which is the most important thing.

Ok I weighed in November last year just shy of 24 stone and as of today should be in the high 13 stone bracket. I have been on a very low calorie diet but while doing it mt lifestyle and what i want to eat has changed dramatically.

Here is a few before and now pics to keep you motivated that it can be done.

resurrecting yet again just for another update...this works well for me as much as keeping those interested uptodate with my progress!

its been another 2 months and I've lost another 2kg...I've actually had to start buying new clothes now that are smaller! its quite a nice feeling actually! Still, obviously I'm a good model for Jacamo clothing but being able to order clothes with one less X on the XL-ness is still a good thing!

Also, things are clearing up a bit in my life...even if I do have a 3rd redundancy cut to try and avoid in a few months...so I'm going to be starting the gym as of the beginning of next month. Looking to go 3 times a week and also bolster that with more Wii-jogging and xbox-zumba-ing during the week.

Just a question while I'm here as well. Personal Trainers...are they really worth it? cuz the gym I'm going to, does a deal where an independant (not employed by the gym) personal trainer will cut their fees from £40 per hour to 3 hourlong sessions for £89. But I'm just not sure its going to be worth it or not.

I cant afford to have 3 sessions per week every month with the PT as I'm pushing it just paying for the gym. But I probably could afford the £89 deal for the first month of the gym, just so the PT can get me all geared up on which machines to use and other advice and stuff. but then the gym does a free introductory hour when you join, which might give me the same as what the PT would be doing.

just another update to say that I've joined the gym a week ago, I've gone every other day so far...although thats only cuz I'm off work. when I'm back next week I'm imagining I'll be down to 3 times a week.

Oh and also I'm now down to 130kg (20st 7lbs), to save new viewers from looking back, originally I was 158kg (25st). so thats a change of 28kg (4st 7lbs)

Only just joined this thread. But duude Nice loss.
Thats half a average person. Gone. Top work.

I'm struggling to lose weight after I stopped bodybuilding due to injury and work commitments. For me Its not about losing weight its more about getting fitter. My thoughts are If I aim to get fitter the weight will come off by itself. I dont look at the scales too often I go by how further into a MTB session I can get without wanting to throw up.

last ride I didnt want to throw up once. Hard going yes a few pushing the bike up hills. but no wanting to throw up.

Keep at it pal next yr you'll be a 15 st powerhouse

great to hear man
i just turned 24, i am 1.72 cm (5'8?) and gained a few KGs recently, mainly due to being too much home (working from home) eating crap and not doing ANY sport, i barely get out of the house. standing on 89 KG (14 stone) atm, i feel so f'in bad about it... i used to be 80 KGs not too long ago (which is also not great but still) - can't motivate myself to do any sport or eat healthy, that's stupid i know but wish i could control it, trying to find someone to do sports with without much luck :/ i am just scared my weight will just go higher than this

16st9lb @5'8" @36 yrs old Still carrying a lot of muscle Thank god.

My riding partner was a fatty hit just over 18stone@6'2" hes now ripped But has managed to keep his leg size and more importantly for him his leg power.
Legs used to carrying round 18 stone can propel 13 stone pretty fast.

quick update....

Not a lot has happened, been going to the gym regularly 3 times a week, always 30mins cardio and often another 20 mins resistence training and rounding off with an extra 10mins cardio. but I go during my work at home day, so I cant always spend too much time on my lunch break at the gym.

Had a bit of a stumble with the weight as I put on quite a lot once I joined the gym and nearly hit 22st again! dunno whether it was a shock on the body or I ate more because I was burning so much more but anyway...I stuck at it and I've lost it again and am now down to 20st 5lbs.

So only 2 lbs lost since October-time.

Another plus point...bought meself a brand new mountain bike to give me yet another outlet for exercise! Not gunna use it much over christmas, silly time to buy one I know, but come the new year I'll be out on it

I was in the same situation in june when i returned from uni, im 6ft 4 and was very close to 22stone. im now 16st 8lb.

My BEST advice to you man is to slow youself down abit otherwise you will likely burn out. I started on weight loss pills 3 weeks into my weight loss at first I found that I was losing 5lbs the first week then 3 to 4lbs the next, due to water weight. Now i consider anything around the 2lb a week mark is good. I ate 1500cals a day, went to the gym 3 times a week and did cardio 5 to 6 times a week (running/walking 3miles and the bike machine 10 to 20miles). My 1500cals a day was pretty low but high in protein. I ate less bread and replaced that with just tuna (half a tin and no brine) plus 1 teaspoon of low fat mayo.

Just dont expect this too be done in 2 months say, this is for the long haul. If you are still having trouble with weight, PLEASE look at your food intake.

also you are NOT on a diet, you are changing YOUR lifestyle for the better!

Hi,

Yes thanks for reminding me I am changing a lifestyle and not dieting...i do forget that I need to remember!

I do realise that it will take time, and tbh its going to get slower and slower the more I loose!

On a weird/plus point...I weighed myself this morning and I was down to 20st...so I lost 5 lbs in the last 5 or 6 days (I didnt actually weight myself before claiming to be 20st5 yesterday!)

your weight will change between afew lbs at different times of the day. General rule for me is weigh-in days are monday mornings.

Also DONT weigh yourself everyday! once a week is fine. When you get to a point you are happy with the cardio training and weight training give yourself a challenge of not weighing yourself for at first 2 weeks, then 3 and so on. I had alittle fun with this, however no more than a moth.

Try changing your weight sessions every 6weeks, you need to SUPRISE your body. My normal day was gym -> run -> bike some days I would run, gym bike and different weight sessions/lifts in the gym. Just please keep at it!

Was going through some older photos and I found one of me back when I was at my biggest (25st)...
