well, this is it then :(

This happened to me 3 years ago - cncer affected my mums back so bad it collapsed organs giving up etc. a miracle bit of surgery gave her a maximum of 2 years to live - This was 3 years ago i've just finished talking to her now on the phone. Be there for her, support her, at times it wont be pretty or fun or easy but believe me every single extra day makes it worth while. Good luck.

Words can't really express how you must be feeling right now :(
So sorry James, I wish you all the best, you and your family.

Everyone on the forum is here, if you ever want to chat.

This thread has jogged my memory about a thread around a month back where I said I'd donate £20 to cancer research but then forgot to do it. I'll not bump that thread up as I don't want to put the original poster back through recent memories they are most likely still getting over, but I'll donate that £20 now. It's not a lot, but it's all I can afford at the moment and every little hopefully will go towards someday helping someone.

edit:

Thank you for your donation

FUBAR mate :(
I am so sorry to hear that, 47 is not that much older than me!
Be strong for the rest of your family, and seek help when you need it.
My thoughts are with you, you Mother and the rest of the family.

I tell you what mate, if you can squeeze that to £25 you can have 500 of the most desired posts on this board?:)

Just made the donation, but sure I could manage another £5. My email is in my trust if you want me to forward confirmation emails as proof.

edit: done.

Cancer is such a long battle, my sister had cancer when she was only 24. However it was a very rare type of cancer but in the outcome they had to remove her womb and now she can't have children, My thoughts are with you.

Thank you the support and kind words - everybody. Peternem thank you especially for donating. Every little bit really does help.

You know, a couple of days ago a friend told me his fater was diagnosed with cancer also. He said to me "how do you even begin to deal with something like this". I told him i don't know how, you just do. you have to be strong when nobody else can. It's a burden i'll gladly carry if it keeps my mum smiling.

DQN - i cant remember the name of the cancer my mother has, its a very long name but it too is a very rare form. Something which they told her from the start that they can't stop, but only slow down.

anyway, thank you again everybody. I appreciate it.

James.

Good on you mate:)
When a kindly Admin type reads this is there any chance of transferring 500 posts from my post chest to PeterNem's account?:)

I'm really sorry to hear the news dude.

I can only echo what others have said already, that you and your family can cope better than can be expected. My thoughts are with you, and you know there's loads and loads of decent folk here you can lean on.
