Branching off from the other thread somewhat, I'm just curious: were you ever bullied at school?

Any chance of a poll please mods? A simple Yes/No will suffice.

Personally, I was. I'd also be naive to suggest that such trials didn't effect the person I grew into.

Thankfully not, although I might have been open to it, were I not so good at talking my way out of everything :p

Yes I was, however I managed to sort it out by around year 9... I ended up beating the bullies up one by one when each of them started on me.

And IMO that is the ONLY way to really stop bullying (unless you chuck the bullies out of school), make them scared of you, not the other way round.:p

Yes, I was for a while. Probably because I was a mix of things, I was in with the 'popular' few, I played sports, but I was also above average for things like achievements and my grades. Plus the acne when I hit 15 or so didn't help a lot. Also I think I took some jokes and ribbings too personally, when I should have laughed it off and reversed it, rather than reacting and making myself a better target.

But, these people are still complete ****ers, so I think I must have passed through school with a **** batch of peers.

A bit when I was younger, probably 8 or 9. I'd also echo what people said in the other thread, that it has nothing to do with strength. I'd wager that I was stronger than everyone that bullied me, but I'm not the kind of person to lash out.

I'd also agree with you, it probably has helped shape me into who I am now.

Yup.

Girls can be snide, callous, unfeeling bints at times.

But, I'm glad I was a bit of a geeky butterball, a lot of the 'fit' and 'cool' ones ended up being stuck with that snide face and attitude.

It depends. I think it's fairly normal to be picked on to some extents, and some people deal with it better than others.

I was name called and it hurt a lot. But then again, nearly everybody was called names.

I know somebody that was smashed with hammers every D+T lesson. That probably hurt more.

Yes, I was, years 7-11 plus into 6th form too. Switched 6th forms and was fine from then on.

The best bit, looking back, was the headmaster at the Grammar School with the first 6th form stifling a laugh when I told him I was going to do my A levels at a comprehensive. I got 5 As and a distinction in a special level physics paper. Screw you, fat Nige!

Yep, I battled many a bully with my keyboard when I found out I was an 'ard man who really was as special as my mother said I was.

I agree with that.:p I ended up retaking my AS year for various reasons and got on FAR better with the people of that year than I did with my real year. Probably something to do with them being open to who I actually was not having preconcieved ideas due to a certain ******* ****...

I was quite lucky (or unlucky) in that although I have always been quiet and not the kind of person to stir up trouble, however I was the kind of person to get angry when someone did start on me (in the literal sense, ie fists, luckily I was usually much taller than most)...:p

I wasn't really. Teased sometimes like most kids are at some stage, but nothing I would call outright bullying. Quite odd thinking about it actually, given I spent most of it with fairly heavy acne. I think I just lucked out with my group of friends.
