Were you posting in Motors in 2006? How accurate was your prediction.......

I know I wasn't around here in 2006, but I remember clearly me wanting a Soarer around that sort of time. It was roughly when I was doing a bit of work experience in a second hand import car dealer. They had a tatty old Soarer around the back, I thought it was the coolest car in the world :).

This is a huge concern. I don't need to sell it to fund the e92 (my budget is set to the max I would want to spend on what is just a 3 series, so more cash won't help) but at the same time it will just end up sitting around :(

for me the best solution would be to sell it somebody on here who would take care of it as you would so it can live on rather than sitting under a car cover on your drive or whatever.

I think the problem is that realistically nobody is going to 'take care' of the E39 to the OCD standard that Fox has over the years. The people who are willing to put that sort of time, effort and money in a car generally aren't going to be looking for a high mileage two generation old saloon car.

It'd be even worse selling it to someone here because he'd be able to see somebody 'ruining' it.

Here is a list of members and what cars realistically they wanted next at the time (December 2006)

Find yourself in the list and see how accurate your prediction was.

Conanius - S2000, Boxster, VX220, Exige

S2000 was owned from November 2007-October 2010... so I guess I was right, even though I now have a 2001 Ford Focus whilst I cobble together a house deposit :)

Wasn't gurdas supposed to be in a Gallardo by now? :D

I'm sure he'll have some complicated reason why he isn't, no doubt he's furthering synergies to faciliate capital business gain or something, but the fact remains he was so very confident when people doubted him :p

lol, thepharcyde R34 GT-R. Isn't he the guy who recently got completely done over buying a Mk1 Focus? I think this thread nicely sums up the point I was making to Joshy in the other thread, but I guess thats why Lopez posted it :p

Had a Corvette Soft top for about 9 months which I sold on about 2.5 years ago, whilst not a Z06, it was quite fun!

not a bad prediction then!
still fancy a Z06, but will wait until the kids are a bit older :D

there are some corking "predictions" in there.

Like Phate and the Mustang, Dangerous and the M400 and Moeks and the M3/M5/RS4.

Quite please with my own too prediction too. I was realistically looking for a Chevette and ended up with a Manta which is another 3 door GM droopsnoot RWD hatchback from the same era.

My Dad had two mantas.

Loved them - they were cracking cars, back from when Vauxhall was half decent xD

I wasn't posting in Motors back then or even reading it much but it's interesting to see what people thought they might be driving. It might be worth doing it again and seeing how accurate peoples predictions are for the next three years or so?

Interesting, great thread.

I had "Axeboy - Galant, Misubishi GTO, RX7, Eunos Cosmo, Chaser, Porsche 968CS"

I moved away from Japs to German but I did get a 88 Galant vr4, so I ticked that one off :)

With the cars ive since had I do feel I bettered the list apart from the 968 which I still browse pistonheads for every few weeks :(

996 Turbo, I got a Mustang instead simply because a car I always dreamed about but never thought I owned came about and I certainly don't regret, well I did own it twice. :D

996 Turbo / 997 S is certainly about to get re-visited though. :)

I obviously didn't post in that thread, but in Nov 07 I said either an RS4 or 335i in 5 years.
Have got the 335i now and reckon I'll still have it in November next year, so pretty happy with that prediction :)
