Were you posting in Motors in 2006? How accurate was your prediction.......

996 Turbo, I got a Mustang instead simply because a car I always dreamed about but never thought I owned came about and I certainly don't regret, well I did own it twice. :D

996 Turbo / 997 S is certainly about to get re-visited though. :)

Evo COTY 2010 issue has a question from a reader about which 911 to buy (996 TT or 997 S). Chris Harris went straight in and said the 996 Turbo was the best option.

Hehe mine were all M cars then back then, well to be fair although I haven't had one, my tastes in cars have shifted a little since then, I prefer something softer as a daily drvier. I could have had an E46 M3 or an E39 M5 (well I had an E39 540i instead) I just went down the Jag route instead and I don't regret it even slightly, I love the way they drive/waft.

The cars they were testing on Top Gear last Sunday, the Rolls Royce Ghost, the Mercedes S65 AMG and the ...err Bentley Mulsane ...those are my kind of cars to desire now, more than the hard edged road racers.

So my prediction swung fairly close at one point since 2006, but was ultimately wrong and right now, I don't want an M car to be honest ...if I was buying in the 20-30k price braket now ...I'd be looking very closely at the W221 S class I must confess, 4-5 years ago I would have laughed at the idea of that.

I failed :(

Ordered a 997 GT3, canceled it. Bought an RS4 instead and never bothered changing it for an M3 which is kind of what I expected I'd do but it seemed pointless.

Its really interesting to see the ones who have went a different direction (not the ones with the madness :) )

Either getting older or changing tastes. Or in some peoples cases, no change at all

Stormster - Clio 1.8RSI or Xsara VTR

lol I had a 1.6 Corsa Sport done up a bit after that post and then the Golf Turbo for not too far off 2 years now :) So a bit better than the guestimate long term.

I quite fancy an Astra VXR next.

I obviously didn't post in the original thread, but had I done, my prediction would have been for an E39 M5... which I then went on to buy in 2008 and have now owned for 3 years.

Time for a change soon I think...

Touch wood, it hasn't cost me too much in unexpected repairs to date. It's been pretty well serviced and had a few weak points done proactively not long after I got it.
However, I'm conscious of the fact the miles are climbing, the clutches don't last forever so I'm possibly on borrowed time with that (It's now on 134k miles, had 96k when I got it. Although the previous owner thought the clutch may have been done around 60k miles, there is no history to say it was, although given it's pretty much unheard of for them to get to 134k on the original it most likely has been done). If I want to change soon anyway, I may as well do it before any big bills come along as I'd be investing money in it for someone else to get all the benefit.

Something with a V10 engine and with an approved used warranty would be nice ;)

Thats interesting stuff, cheers - You must have an excellent gear change method!

V10 eh? - I'll watch with interest. :)

I think I probably fancied a Boxster in 06. Still might get one, but my lifestyle is such that I moved to a city centre apartment, moved my office to the city centre, so I only use my car about once a week.

:D I set my sights very low compared to the rest of you.

My Glanza Turbo idea never took off. It never seemed the next logical step.

I ended up with a Saab 9-5 Aero Estate which I've owned since Aug 2009.

Next car prediction: Disco 4 or Spend the money to keep the 9-5 running as long as possible.
