Western Digital 250GB, Windows only seeing 125GB

Got my New computer running

Went to install Windows and it said something like "Unpartitioned Space 135000MB" Press enter to set up Windows XP

What happened to the other 100 odd GB???

Drive is a Western Digital 250GB Caviar SATA2 16mb Cache.

you need sp1 to see the space. install sp1 then open the disk management console in the control panel and partition the extra space as a logical drive. thatsw the easiest way, as long as you dont mind having another drive letter.

Phew, thought something bad had happened to the drive

... Will do that some time later... 125gb will do for now

I have the same problem windows sp2 250 maxator shows as 115gb :confused:

You might have installed with a pre-SP1 copy and then updated to SP2. Then you may have had the 131GB limit when you installed Windows. But installing SP2 has fixed this. Follow the instructions in the above post to use the rest of the space.
