Western Digital 2TB Caviar Black

i want a 2TB drive but the price premium is too much. ordered 2 1.5's instead for the same price

Thats something I would do but the reason I wount is because 2 drives = more noise and more heat.
Most people will be buying 2Tb to archive/library purposes (much like me) so speed isnt important.
The CAv Green has dropped around £30 so far and im hoping it will drop some more before i need more space as my 1.5Tb still has 200Gb left in it yet.

The only thing with BIGGER drives is that when they go wrong you've lost it all. SO you need a duplicate drive to backup to. So i'll also need to buy a 2Tb external to backup the 2Tb internal.

The price adds up :(

I don't understand the point of these drives. Why would anyone pay £225+ for 2TB when they can get 2x fast 1TB drives for ~£120. The speed difference is really worth the £100+ extra?

You can get a 32GB/64GB SSD with that £100 spare if you go wit the 2x 1TB option.

Maybe I'm missing something.

This ain't about performance

Its about storage - a nice fat NAS.....

Yes it is, they already have a 2TB Green drive.

It's a combination of the two. WD know that there's been a lot of criticism saying their 2TB Green's are somewhat slow, so they're aiming this at an enthusiast/gamer based market that want a faster 2TB alternative than the Green. Large capacity, excellent speed. Good move by WD and about time too! :)
I for one would love a couple of these drives as I use professional video editing programs, and I don't think the Caviar Green would cut it, pardon the pun.

Personally, I would wait for WD RE4 2TB 7200 RPM version. It has some good feature and protection against shock and vibration....and it is good for me because my PC runs 24/7...
