what about this X360 Live freebie?

at christmas just past there was some sort of outage for a lot of customers using xbox live so microsoft said everyone (iirc) was going to get a free game from live arcade or something.

is this still the case or...?

Undertow was available for free for a limited period, which has ended.

It was only available for two weeks.

Not sure if you can get it now. It was rubbish anyway.

hmm. i kind of thought it would be redeemable whenever you wanted it
my membership ran out so i was offline for a month.

It was also available free for Silver members too, not just Gold.
