Soldato
So the old man is wanting to change his car this year, and after hearing an advert on the radio the other day he wants to check out a Vauxhall Insignia. I checked what the deal was, and initially wasn't impressed as it's the bog standard poverty spec with a 1.8 petrol engine.
Vauxhall Insignia 1.8 Exclusiv 5dr £12,999
After scouring Autotrader I found that you can get a 12 month old example with delivery miles in a much higher spec. But my dad has never been one for top spec cars!
He currently drives an 04 Skoda Octavia 1.9 diesel (poverty spec), which he regrets and which I advised for him not to purchase in the first place.
I have persuaded him now to look at petrols, he doesn't do the mileage to warrant paying the higher premiums for diesels. And I have got the following list of cars as options for him to test drive:
Budget is circa £10k, with priorities being new as possible, 5 doors, large boot to fit in a golf bag and trolley. Performance is not a priority in the slightest a 2.0 petrol unit is more than sufficient, and running costs need to be as low as possible (service, tax, tyres etc.)
