Now I am waiting a good while for i5 to bed in before making the plunge, so am looking to get a bit more out of my system in the interim.

I have 2 options:

a) Sell my E8200 C0, and get an E8400 E0. Apparently the E0 stepping runs considerably better in my motherboard, and will allow greater overclocks, or the same with lower volts.

b) Sell my Fenrir and get a Corsair H5O cooler, cooling my E8200 better and possibly allowing me to eek out another 100-200mhz.

What say yee oh wise and knowledgeable ones?

It depends on what moving from e8200 to e8400 costs you I think. The move is worth it only if the cost is small enough for you to be happy with it.

I think that when waiting for a major upgrade, and wanting something new now, is the best time to upgrade a different part. When looking at P45 to the x58 boards, I decided it wasn't worth doing, so I started water cooling. Now that I'm finally on x58, it's water cooled :)

That's why I am leaning towards the H5O, I can move it to i5 later on.
