What are extra sound jack colours for / surround sound for PC?

My mobo has 6 colourd jacks.
Green, orange black work with my 5.1 system

I dont have a 7.1 system, only a dolby 5.1 system
There are pink, grey and blue jacks I dont use.

I dont use pink, grey and blue.
Are one of those colours might be for side speakers?
Can I use separate side speakers with a seperate amp (2 channel stereo speakers?) and plug them into the side speakers jack, for the extra 2 channels in surround sound.

So, id be running a 7.1 system with 2 amps, setting it up with
SOUND > PLAYBACK > CONFIGURE option in windows 10, and choosing 7.1 speakers.

Or do I definitely really need / will only get 7.1 sound with one 7.1 amp? (I dont care toooo much for the side speakers, just wondered if it was possible, since I have a spare pair of 3.5mm jack speakers I could use as side speakers)

Thanks Micky. Side speakers worked with a seperate amp, work in windows testing, but did not work in game without replacing the rear surround speakers, which shut off, leaving the side speakers to take their place.

Maybe because the game supports 5.1 surround, not 7.1, and the main amp isnt handling the side speakers.
