Yeah it's a very different experience - for the sake of 7.99 or whatever, it's worth a look IF you have the hard drive space AND a nexusmods subscription. With 3,500-odd mods, trying to install it with the free nexus mods option would take an absurd amount of time (you can get a 3 day free trial though!).
 
I'm 47 this month... I have mostly been playing Dune Awakening (300+hrs), Lightyear Frontier (100ish hrs) and recently Against the Storm as well as the odd game of Fortnite with my kids, but other than that I don't get much game time any more :(
I would love to have a game the truly gets what I want from it Dune was close as is Lightyear Frontier but just not quite scratching the itch in the right way.. Is it me or are games just really bland now??
 
God of War: Ragnarok

This is been on my to-do list since it was released in 2022. I played the 2018 one on release and loved it, but by the time this came along I'd switched to PC gaming. So then it was the 2-year wait for it come out on PC in 2024, at which point i figured I'd wait a month or two for it to be discounted. Skip forward to today and I've still not seen it go cheap on Steam. Instead I bought a code through Loaded for £28 iirc as on seeing God of War: Laufey being demoed I really fancied this. I'm 2.5hrs in and so far I've loved it. Got off to a great start with the option to see a brief recap of the previous game (for more sequels should do this IMO), then when you start a new campaign there's no loading screen, you start the game from the home screen.

The game plays incredibly smoothly with no need to tweak any settings, of which there are many to choose from. I'd say the only two slight complains I've had so far are that the combat lacks a bit of weight, particularly with the Blades of Chaos or whatever they're called. You're swinging them round hitting enemies but they look and feel is as if you're swinging them through thin air. The other minor snag is it isn't clear when you've passed a checkpoint and the game has auto-saved, albeit you do have the option to save manually.

Couple more games added to the list following the XBox showcase the other day:

  • Doom the Dark Ages DLC
  • Halo: Campaign Evolved
 
The Talos Principle III announced made me excited to play the previous two again, so I picked up the Talos Principle Reawakened (Historical Low) for £6 on Steam. Played it for four hours tonight.

I also played EQ on the Karana way back when ( was in Quo Vadis guild - part of The Empire who were a High end Raiding guild ) Quit when the guild called it a day with the mess that was Gates of Discord

MMORPGS these days - i still play LOTRO pretty regularly but as for moderns MMORPPS , Elder scroll Online - I found pretty uninspiring once I'd played through the launch campaign and the rest of the ones launched post 2015 haven't really set the world on fire for me. World of Warcraft is ok but again not the force it was by a long way. Finally the only other 'MMO' game that I've spent much any time in (900 hrs !!!) is Lost Ark and I wouldn't recommend it as it really become a bit of a Pay to win and to get anywhere after a certain level you have to grind raids

I watched the Exit 8 film on a flight and then decided to buy the game. I really think the game should be a lot harder. It was very cheap at least.
