Mate of mine today doing 3 reps at 440lbs military press. His advantage being 6"6 tall and as wide as a rather large tree trunk.

Pretty great lifts.

my mate who lives and breathes the gym, cant remember what he did exactly, pretty sure it was 5 x 20kg a side on bench press so about 220kg, can deadlift it as well, no idea what it is in lbs tho, probably about the same as what your quoting

In my own gym... Apart from my own lifts (sounds arrogant I know, but our gym isn't very big), probably someone benching 160-170 and someone doing 200kg squats, 180kg RDLs and 320kg shrugs. Other than that not much really.

In other gyms however I've seen, over 300kg deads, 200kg bench, 180kg standing shoulder press.

A mate of mine at uni used to compete, spotted him for a 220k bench after which he pumped out an easy 100k x 30
Also bumped into a dutch lad who was just visting London... spotted him for an easy 280 squat (as he was "taking it easy" hehe)

I've quite frequently seen 200kg+ benchies but when you look really closely, they've hardly lowered the bar from rest and by the time they lifted their chest off the bench, the total movement is only an inch. Hardly a full press imo.
I tend to watch peoples form and how much little movement they're actually getting. Total wste of time. Biceps curls are the biggest attraction to cheating :D

theres some formula for how far you move the weight x the actual weight. whichs shows how ''hard'' the exercise actually is.

also nearly all the people i see doing ''big'' lifts in my gym have very little definition and crappy form.

Were you spotting alone? I know that if I were spotting a 220kg bench I'd be pretty much useless if he couldn't move it off his chest...

Oddjob could manage it as could a lot of people here. But it is a good point, though many people pushing that sort of weight are likely to have proficient spotters. Even if the lifter fails, he'll have enough in him to make the lift up to the hooks easy enough.

I go to the gym at school, so basically people only 18 and under are in there. The highest bench, although I didn't see it was 120kg, and the highest deadlift about 180kg. I've never seen anyone max the squat.

You sure it was 440lbs?

honestly. He is a massive youth (Semi/pro rugby player for Chester. Only 29). Amazing upper body strength. 6"6 all muscle no bodyfat. His traps must be 4.5 inches. I actually googled it to see if others were pressing the same weight but found nothing. I have seen up to 400lb bench-press but nothing as heavy as the 440 for the military press. That's not to say others arn't doing it either but I was more than amazed/impressed to say the least.

Mate I train with benched 170KG accidentally, he mis-counted, wanted 150KG got 170. He's a big guy.

My max is 110 - NEED TO GET STRONGER!

All the lifts I've seen in my uni gym aren't that great compared to the rest of you (Although I'm far off all of these :P)
Prob
~100-120kg bench
~160kg squat
~120-140kg deadlift
