What are these chips my friends on about?`

yeah had one in my 600 diesel
worked great.
also got a synergy tuning box for my 75 diesel
that made the car feel like you had put a bigger engine in, well worth getting

Aye, exactly - but most of the products out there, as discussed are just resistors.

The ones for the 600 and 75 were properly tested on rolling roads, mine gave me 130bhp instead of 103bhp on my 400 diesel, no other mods.

Random question - what did you think of the 600 diesel? For some reason I really liked mine!

yeah the guy the designed both the boxes i got had them dyno`d
and for the 600 it was up to 135 and the 75 up from 116 to 150

i really like my 600 too, i also decatted mine, that got rid of the turbo lag

If 'chipping' can increase performance as well as fuel economy, then why don't care manufacturers build their cars to their highest potential in the first place?

Because the manufacturers deemed the output level of a stock car would be reliable and be ok till the warrenty runs out! Start mapping the car and you put greater higher stress on all the components more-so the gearbox and clutch.

Thats the main reason you see big american tanks with 7.0l engines only producing 350BHP or so. The engine and so for will last moon milage.

its more than likely emissions
my bike comes with a big dip in its power between 5000 and 6000 rpm, because that where noise and emissions are checked
you can buy a dynojet kit that will get rid of the hole giving you back the power lost, the bike now pulls a lot harder though the gears

so this "oh if it gave more power the manufacturers would already have it" isnt so clear cut

but as said the resister in a box are a waste of money

Its the same for my Clio it has VVT and operates at 1800rpm I believe to help pass the emissions tests.

But I don't think thats why they limit the power.
