What are your photography New Years Resolutions ?

Want to get 20 weddings bookings at the rate I want for 2012 and then I can go full time and work for myself.

Oh, and complete the Holy Trinities

Hope you've got still some unbooked weekends! I'm waiting for some recently engaged friends to ask for photographer recommendations and I can suggest a few people from here. ;)

I'm actually booked quite full for 2011, most months I am full (may be a couple of weekends free?), I had to turn down about 5 already for 2011 because of it. Free in 2012 though :)

I need to improve my portraiture and lighting skills for a baby coming end of March

Don't hobble yourself!

You're in a far better position than I was, most of my pics of my new born daughter are with a N95 phone!

Hobble?! :D I'm thinking of either a 5DmkII and 40D, or 7D and 5D combo setup eventually...

Buy a 70-200L (tomorrow hopefully! :))
Upgrade my body to a 40D/50D
Get some studio lighting and decent backdrop
Start taking some shots for clients and hopefully my equipment will start paying for itself!

Wasn't sure if you were saying you'd have two bodies or one, but from what you said before about your sports stuff you need a body with decent AF, which the 5D/5DmkII isn't!

Get a proper portfolio site running
Get a new camera/lens
Do more photography/filming
Try and get some paid/free work

Edit: Quick question, are people building their own websites or using sites like zenfolio to do theirs? No idea how to build a website

If you've no idea how to build a site I'd say one of the template sites is the way to go - unless you have the money to pay a designer/builder. I have some web building experience and use ClicPic, can't comment on the others but ClicPic offers quite a lot of customisation possibilities so your site can evolve as you gain web experience and doesn't look to much like just another template site - I guess all are similar.

1) Take more pictures
2) Impose mini challenges on myself to force myself to take pictures of things I wouldn't normally do - eg a day on patterns or texture etc.
3) Try and plan more, rather than just going out and taking pictures of what I come across - connected to 2 really.
4) Learn to use my Speedlight Christmas present (thank you Santa :D)
5) Take more pictures.

take more photo's - though to be fair I have taken over 600 photo's with my little S95 since October, shame 599+ of them are ***p
grow some balls and enter the OCUK competition
Get my head round the technical parts of photography
Disable the auto button on all my cameras :-)
Learn to use my DSLR - it scares the hell out of me at the moment, by this time next year it won't...

Might consider some sort of project, but at a loss for what right now..

My new years photography resolutions are:

Have a photo portfolio of at least 120 photos by this time next year
Get my medium format camera properly in the field and run at least 36 rolls of film through it
do either 52 micro projects or 12 bigger photo projects through the year
Save for (and possibly purchase) a Canon 7D/5D by the end of the year
Invest in some accessories for my cameras, rather than just lenses.

Think that is all I can think of right - will add more later if I think of any :)

Mine are as follows -

1. stop obsessing over kit :)
2. get my portfolio together
3. get my new website built
4. start getting paid work on a regular basis
5. take more portraits
6. continue brushing up on my lighting skills

Hopefully a lot of the above will come together nicely as I have been asked to shoot a wedding in September. Have done one wedding as a 2nd photographer to this will be my first one on my own.

Apart from the obvious, I don't know.

The obvious being

Do more paid work (although I earnt about a grand this year from it)

I'd also like to really up my photography game a lot...be more creative, do things outside of the box...the first 6 months of this year were pretty dry for me, although to be fair I was sorting out a new website and had a lot going on. I didn't really do much photography related until May/June time...then it sortof zoomed throughout the year!

Have recently made a few changes to my site so I'm pretty much 100% set of next year.

Now I've got a lot of the background work done...I need to work on getting my own bookings, I'll continue to work with Mark next year and thoroughly look forward to it as well.

I need to work on my post processing abilities more...they are a bit limited really but if only due to my own rubbish ability at self teaching.

Sorry...sort of rambled on there :p
