What are your photography New Years Resolutions ?

The 4k firmware hoax for the t2i had me thinking my new years resolution would be 4098x3112.

My real new years resolution is to get a couple more bits for filming, and shoot some awesome stuff

1. Considerably improve my theory knowledge of photography.

2. Learn to utilise and understand my current equipment more comprehensively before trying to justify buying more expensive gear. So it become my equipment limiting me rather than the other way around.

3. Take enough photos of a high enough quality to create a portfolio I can be proud of, and following that build a decent enough website to show them off.

4. Print at least 1 of my photos large, every month for my wall. (Nicked from Nazbit)

5. Get at least one paid shoot or take a photo that results in some sort of payment (sexual favours count :p).

6. Try my hand at clubnight event photopgraphy, some D'nB or house/techno nights would do me nicely.

7. Considerable improve my PP skills and hence my Photoshop skills. (Already working on some Lynda Vids :))

And the most important one,

8. Place higher than second to last in the OcUK photo comp at the end of the year :(

1: Continue to improve.
2: Use my camera more.
3: Display my work more.
4: Design a website for my photography.
5: Move out of my comfort zone and try some new things.
6: Put together a panel to submit for a LRPS.

As much out of necessity (having just lost my job) as a New Years resolution:

1. Throw myself back into photography full/part time.
2. Finally process the ~ years worth of non-commissioned RAWs I have idling on my PC that have never seen the light of day.
3. Update/totally overhaul my website.
4. Pick up some new commissions/bookings/stockists for 2011 and beyond.
5. Just to bloody well get out there again, see the countryside, refresh my portfolio and enjoy being behind the shutter again!

1. Clear out my backlog of about 600 unprocessed RAW files from the last 1.5 years :(
2. Buy a 10-stop ND filter and try out some daytime long exposures...been wanting to do this for a long time.
3. Learn portrait photography...I never photograph people. Time to change that.

Well the only things I was gonna do this year I managed to sort out before Chirstmas. I upgraded to a better body with a much better sensor and cut my lens collection down to two!!

So maybe I should be ambitious and say "get some real paid work as a photographer"!

I just want to learn more about:

1. Coming up with ideas for shots to go with a theme, as opposed to using incidental shots and thinking it will do!
2. Multiple flash lighting setups
3. Time-lapses
4. Long exposures (need to buy an ND or two)

1. Buy a 70-200L (tomorrow hopefully! :))
2. Upgrade my body to a 40D/50D
3. Get some studio lighting and decent backdrop
4. Start taking some shots for clients and hopefully my equipment will start paying for itself!

1. Check!
2. Work in progress..
3. Check!
4. Check!
So far soo good! :)
