We have to re-photograph our entire catalogue of products this year, unfortunately most of them are paper-based products and are primarily white/whiteish.

We have some studio lights and a light cube, but what colour background should we use to avoid colour casts/show through but enable easy removal of the background in PS??

I would assume a black background... This will reduce shadows and allow the white to stand out. It will also allow for the easy removal of backgrounds in PS.

p.s. I know nothing... :p

Its not a bad idea and one i've considered however keeping black, "black" is very hard and i'm concerned it might cast through the paper making it look grey rather than white

well it is all down to choice, but if I was doing a lot of white work then purple would be my choice but its much the same as the blue or red opinion earlier. so any basically. Whats your company logo colour? go with that if its for a brochure (providing its not white)
