What book are you reading...

About half way through The Girl Who Played With Fire. The only problem is that I had accidentally started reading the third book before this thinking it was the second. I got a quarter of the way through before realising, so now I have revealed a lot to myself. Don't know how I managed that!

I normally struggle with medieval/fantasy writing. The fancy names put me off.
I spend so long trying to work out how to pronounce them that I lose track of the story!
Then you will definitely struggle with Martin at first. I've been reading this kind of thing forever (42 years if you include reading the Hobbit at the age of six :->), and I found the first 100 pages or so very hard going. He starts off a bit too "Harry Potter" for my tastes, and then throws a lot of characters at you very quickly.

But I promise you it is worth the effort. I rarely read books again within about five years, usually more (so many books, so little time!) but I'm looking forward to starting these again fairly soon, because there was a lot which kind of washed over me as I struggled to hold all the characters and plot lines in my head, especially in the first volume. Now I know all those characters so much better I'd like to revisit their early lives. But you can only do that for the first time once, and I envy you the journey.

So persevere. All good things require a little effort. :-)

Been on a reading binge lately.

Finished the David Gemmell Troy series AGAIN last week. It's SO ****ING good. Will probably read it again over Christmas.

Currently reading Steve Jobs' autobiography which is quite good. Probably finish it tonight. Not sure what I'm reading after that. Probably something light and quick before tackling the Emperor series by Conn Iggulden.

Just finished reading through the 13 books in the Dresden Files series. I found them an excellent read and pleased to hear the author has about 10 more planned in the series.

I’m about half way through reading The Evolutionary Void by Peter F Hamilton. I love Sci-Fi so enjoyed these books immensely. I didn't read the Commonwealth Saga before but plan on getting it pretty soon. Have I spoilt anything seeing as these are set before the void Trilogy?

I'll be reading The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie next. I have read all his other books so hoping for another good read.

Oh my god...reading Game of Thrones (Book 3) and after the ending of part one -
Rob and Catelyn both being murdered at the wedding
I have just finished reading about
the death of Joff at his own wedding feast
all in the space of 2 days!!!!

I don't think i can handle anymore surprises! LOVE these books :D

Then do not read this

Cat is not dead :D

ps: A song of Ice and Fire

I need a new book to read and can't for the love of god figure out which one.

I may just re-read the far seer trilogy.

Currently reading The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor by Robert Kirkman.
Pretty obvious what it's about - how the Governor came to be.
It's pretty good so far.

Just finished the entire Deathnote series including the spin offs. Took me a while but I was reading other books in between as I didn't want to get bored too quickly.

Next on the list is Laurell K Hamilton's vampire hunter novels, read the first one a little while ago and really enjoyed it so on to the 2nd one now.

I just read the Hunger Games trilogy in a week, after seeing the film and having my boyfriend telling me to read the book (it's usually the other way round, me having read the book and him seeing the film!) - he's only read the first one so far though because he reads a lot more slowly than me, so I win!

I'm reading "In Ruins" by Christopher Woodward, art / history book about why we are fascinated by ruined buildings. Surprisingly good.

Just finished the 3rd book in a series of 4 on Caesar by Conn Iggulden, easy to read decent set of books up to now.
Taking a break from all things Rome, now reading Sophie's choice by Jostein Gaarder, quite good so far.

After giving up half way through 'A Feast for Crows' a couple of month back. I've decided to give it one more chance!

Seems a bit better than last attempt (not starting from the beginning again though) or things just pick up a bit past halfway? Anyway, it seems the break from ASOIAF has done me good.
