What book are you reading...

Just finished 'The Lost Dogs' about the redemption of the pitbull dogs taken from Michael Vicks fight farm. Jesus, what a filthy piece of work he is.

I'm still reading Cardinal of the Kremlin by Tom Clancy.
My Kindle now says I'm 14% through it but it feels like 90%

Probably the dullest book I've ever read. I'm seriously contemplating not finishing it and moving on to something else!

Just finished 'Autumn: The City' by David Moody. Very good, even better than the first book. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Next up, 'A Dance with Dragons' by George R R Martin. I'm starting this with a little trepadation as I found 'A Feast for Crows' rather dull! Since I've invested so much time in the series so far, I may as well keep going :)

I gave up halfway through the third book. To be frank, it was just too dull. The second book was a bit of a grind about 'Arry's adventures but I realised halfway through the third that it felt like I was reading it for school homework. Whenever I get that feeling about something which is supposed to be a form of entertainment I walk away. Too much good stuff out there for me to want to waste my time. Luckily the tv series is more pacey than the books. It is genuinely rare that I refer tv/film over books though. I'm usually far happier with the written word.

Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

Second time I've read it, listened to the audio book before too.

I finished the first 13 books in Jim Butchers Dresden series, I thought these were excellent cabbotcqaut for the next, then I read The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie, which was actually a pretty good read, and now I am just starting on the Hunger Games series.

Currently reading through I Am Legend for about the 6th time.

Its a tradegy that this wasn't made into the film it so could have been!

It has been adapted several times. I've only seen the Will Smith version and I agree it was rubbish. They did one with Charlton Heston called The Omega Man - don't know if that's up to much, but it might be worth a try.

Yeah, Feast wasn't so interesting. I think it was down to the POV characters which the book focuses on. I'm nearly at the end of Dance and it is FAR better than Feast IMO.

Rave from the Grave: "Dangerous Visions", a collection of SF from the 70s edited by Harlan Ellison, which I last read in about 1976. Some has dated badly, some has not. SF has certainly gone in completely another direction though. Before that was the Forest Mage stuff by Robin Hobb, who I've become a big fan of.

I think I'm going to start The Unfortunates by B.S. Johnson today. Which seems intriguing because it's a book in a box, where the book is unbound and can be read in any order you want (with the exception of the first and last chapter).

I say think because I just bought Cosmopolis by Don DeLillo and Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs on Tuesday and I dunno where to start...

"Nightmare at 20,000 feet" by Richard Matheson. I say reading but it is actually an audiobook. I'm sure a lot of people saw the "Twilight Zone" movie which riffs off of the first story in this collection but, as much as I love that part of the movie, the book is far better. I've actually just found out they made a TZ episode of this story in 1963 too, with William Shatner in the lead role. I shall have to hunt that out. :)
However, the true revelation has been some of the later stories. One in particular (for those who have read it, the one where the TV has "FEED" written on it) is short but amazing. I recommend the book to anyone who likes really good horror.

Just recently got Kindle installed on my phone so i have just finished reading The Hobbit in preparation for the film, see if they miss anything out.

Also just started The Similarion, a bit hard going, might read it between other things.

Any recommendations for a good read, mainly fantasy stuff?

Depends what you define as fantasy, I have recently worked my way through the Dresden Series of books and the Percy Jackson/Olympians series and have just started the second book in the Hunger Games series and have found them all a good read.

Just over half way through the first book of the A Game of Thrones series, and I've got to say, I hate coming across a Sansa chapter. They're so boring.
