What can I get for £270?

If you want the most fps under £270 I would say 570. If you're ok with a few fps drop and want save around £50 then get the 6950 on the basis of unlocking it to a 6970 - something I recommended to a friend just yesterday.

I would not buy the 6970 at the moment under any circumstances now.

I personally went for a 570 just over a week ago - before the 6950 unlock was discovered. My reasons were noise reports, no optimised drivers at that point and generally 570 getting ahead of the 6970 in benchmarks on the games I play. I also fancied a change as my last two cards were Radeons.

If I was buying now I would probably go for the 6950 as I don't really need the extra fps and I'm still on 775, P35 mobo. Having said that I have my 570 clocked closed to 580 performance which I can't complain.

6950, 570 are the cards to get I reckon.

Not about graphics but if you check out pictures of your 2 motherboards make sure you can use all the memory slots easily with the venom cooler fitted.I have a Gigabyte and can only use two of the four slots due to gigabyte placing them so close to the cpu mounting!.As far as graphics go the 6950 looks a bargain when you can unlock to 6970!,as far as difficulty goes, a lot of people have already done it and worked through the problems for you!(check out the 6950 unlocking thread).:)

I went to a GTX570 its a cracking card, always had ATI since X800 series, time for a change.
I must say its super smooth even at stock speeds.
