What can Newcastle United do in the coming season?

i read today that we are getting compensation from the FA and probably fifa as well , so theres a bit of cash in, just depends on how much sticks to fat gits pockets and how much makes it out.

Newcastle and the FA have insurance policies in place that will pay Owen's wages at the minimum whilst he is injured.

(why Carrick is ahead of Parker in the England squad is beyond me)

If I was Sven I wouldn't select him either. He's a combative midfielder and in international football, particularly in this world cup, I can't see him lasting more than two games without a ban.

vandle has pretty much summed up what i was about to say,

worring time for newcastle imo, i dont want hasslebank purely because i dont like boro and obv he is a boro castoff, but other toon fans may want him

Beggars cant be choosers.
Im not exactly excited about the Hasselbaink link but he is a proven goal scorer.
He ran almost 3/4 of the pitch last season to score against us!

The whole thing has me depressed , reminds me of 1995 when Shearer banjoed himself at Goodison.

I think Roeder will have to pull up trees (where the hell does that saying come from  ) to see out the full season.

The latest I heard about the insurance payout is that it will only cover half of Owen's sallery so we will still be paying out huge sums of cash for an injured player :(

Like you guys have said the mid-field is strong and we might see a few goals there.

Fingers x'd

Nah as i think players who are injured dont get the full wages anyway as they would be no incentive to get fit, so maybe what the FA r paying in owen's wages might be enough.

We have an extra insurance policy to cover the other 50% which the fa's won't (according to freddy)

As for next season I'm still living in the hope that A we sign Torres for 30 mil :p
Or B Shearer comes back to help out.

Chances are neither will happen, we'll struggle to make europe again, best we can hope for is a nice cup run.

I think he will get full wages, sadly. He'll just miss out on appearance and goals bonuses etc. Hopefully he'll do a "Redondo" though and ask not to be paid while injured, but I can't see that happening. :p

if he really felt guilty getting injured for newcastle then maybe he should ask not to get paid during his injury period, that won't happen though with this guy.

i totally rate the hasslebaink, ever since his early chelsea days, and before he left chelsea i always said we should get him, hes a proven quailty forward, him and gudjohnson woulda been cool.

no one would offer to do that.
Indeed.
Quite a ludicrous suggestion tbh.
No player , no matter what his affinity to the club would go unpaid like that.
No fan would be daft enough to expect them to either.

any newcastle fans?

who would you rather see play for us... darren bent.. or dirk kuyt?

in all honesty.....if there was only one who could come id say darren bent actually...

Id rather see darren bent, according to newspaper reports we are going to launch a £12million bid for him after they have already rejected a £10million bid from liverpool, and have also enquired about jermain defoe after deciding not to follow up on dirk kuyt.
