What car for a girl friend of mine?

Budget circa. £8k.

Must have rear seats (a work requirement to entitle her to the car allowance).

Must be convertible.

Doesn't have to be brand new, but not an old banger.

She's currently looking at the Renault Meganes...

Your suggestions would be much appreciated.

Saab 9-3 Convertible?

Probably get an 99-01 for that money?

Maybe a Volvo C70?

I'd go 3 series BM or A4.

However, if she's looking at the Megane then she should also look at the 307cc (butt-ugly) and the 206cc (nice, but girlier and smaller)

Another vote for a 9-3. Stylish, rock solid relaibility and can be quite fun to drive.

I found the Peugeots quite plasticy (well my 205 GTI was at least). Are they the same or have they got better?

For that money...

3-4 year old astra
3-4 year old megane
5 - 6 year 9 -3
4 year old 206cc

Just a few ideas.

If It was me, and that was the criteria, it would be the saab 9-3.

She's told me the Saab is too big, so presumably the Beemer is too.
Her mate has an A3 so she doesnt want one of those.

My mum's got a 206cc, they're actually really nice to drive. Very easy, and its full leather.

It didn't strike me as plasticky either.

Didn't think you'd get a 307CC or new Megané Convertible for 8k. I personally wouldn't have either though.

206CC's are supposed to be quite nice though, are the new Tigra's in this price bracket yet?

Thats what i was thinking, VW convertable for 8k, perhaps if its a Cat C.
