Girlfriends dad is looking to buy a new sporty hatchback for around 20k... just wanted some ideas... insurance is not a problem! Would also consider other types of sporty cars but nothing to big!

Just to give an idea, the car that is being replaced is a Audi A6 2.7TDi S-line, but next car needs to be smaller!

New or Used!

I suggested the civic type-r but he doesn't like the shape . The audi a3 is defintely in the running as is the focus rs/st :) . Will show him the astra!

Coming down from an Audi could be difficult. I suppose on near par with build quality and refinement would be the Golf GTi/R32, or another Audi like an S3 or a TT.

Focus ST/RS or CTR would be next down the line.

Or if you want to go left hooker oldschool, Lancia Delta HF Intergrale... if you can find one!

I think he might stick to Audi tbh... the A3 quattro or the S3. The TT is nice but a bit too small for him. Will also look into the Golf...

Thanks for all the replies so far... keep them coming :p

Lol... this is the thing... he can buy a 20k car and go on lots of holidays anyway :) . 20k is just a guide... not an actual figure. He wants something with excellent performance, speed, comfort etc for his money. Plus if its new the extra money would go on leather seats, sat nav, electric seats (it all adds up!)

Aye, but mine's getting on a bit, has zero mod cons and is a long way from comfortable...

130i?

Octavia vRS MkII?

ST220?

vRS MkI/Golf GTi Anniversary/Leon Cupra/Leon Cupra R/S3 and a VX220/Elise/MX5?

Is he looking for 'sporty' or a hot hatch?

As he's got a at the moment, is he looking to keep that style of power delivery?

When is the vRS TDI170 due?

Tell him that hatchbacks are for women and proper men have boots.
