Im looking to sell the passat soon for around 3k. Have seen some examples with the same spec but 10k lower mileage going for 4.5k..so not actually sure whats its worth.

I plan to add 1k onto the money i sell it for.

I want either an audi a6 2.7t avant quattro.

or anothder pd130 passat, but syncro estate. (if i cant find any a6's for sale).

Trouble is, i cant find ANY a6's for sale. I specifically want the 6 speed manual version. Car wont be modified, 250hp is enough.

Has anyone owned them ? I know they arent great on MPG but I can afford the fuel, there dont appear to be any bad points.

I dont want the 2.8 N/A or the V8.

ive tried

pistonheads
autotrader

and no luck!

IIRC isn't the 2.7t a twin turbo? In fact the same engine as in the Audi B5 S4.

If so, good luck with the running costs. Although there is more room in the A6 engine bay to work, things break often on these car's and cost quite a bit to put right. I've heard they love eating diverter valves and MAF's?

I don't think anyone here will recommend another Passat.

I've a mate who owns an A6 who really likes it as a milemuncher.

Not much else to say other than to change your sig if thats your company as I don't believe advertising is allowed.

the engine bay is a pig to work in

dump valves can die. only one of mine was dead after 115k miles and the uprated one is only £23 from VAG

i think mine has had a new MAF in the past, but currently its fine

biggest worries are as follows
turbos

the cars have terrible service schedules and the turbos can suffer. it seems like the engine has to come out to change turbos

the manifold have a special casing/heatshield. apparently its an engien out job to sort the manifolds too

if the engine doesnt get up to water temp properly then the stat is a cambelt off job

there are a couple common spots for boost leaks which can put you in limp mode

if you drive normally youll get 29mpg on the motorway. combined ive been getting 23-24mpg

it will take a while to get used to the layout of things under the bonnet, if youre DIYing

someone on here got themsleves an A6 2.7T recently. can't remember their name. do a search, might bring something up
are you prepared for the jump in running costs?
