What could make a Wi-Fi connection/network simply stop every hour or so?

Works absolutely perfect and speedy all other times, but every hour or so data just stops going and everything is down to zero. The connection icon says everything is fine, no errors, but all FTP apps and IE are unable to send and receive data.

I have to go to network connections, disable and re-enable the wireless network connection to get it flowing again.

I hate things like this about wireless, it never just works, always some little niggly thing somewhere deep inside a load of options upsetting the whole thing

I had this on my laptop and it was due to incorrect drivers. Well, they were proper drivers for my WLAN device in my laptop, but what I didn't know was that Toshiba had made some changes and only Toshiba drivers worked.

It could also be a problem with your Access Point. Are there any other Wireless networks nearby? Try changing the wireless channel of your network and see if you can boost the signal strength. Also, restricting the signal to just one type might help. Most networks broadcast in both B and G. Try sticking with just G.

Sounds like something software, check for driver updates on you wi fi card and try a firmware upgrade on your AP, I used to have this prob and a firmware on the router fixed it
