Trying to work out spending as one of my new year revolutions is to start saving money every month.

I'm going to be making my lunch this year and cook every day. So what do you all spend.

Is £25 a week reasonable for 1 person?

and how do you lot keep it down, meat and fresh veg is so expensive.

spend around 10 - 15 pounds. Make my own sandwiches and refill my bottles with tap water. I buy frozen veg instead of fresh because i never eat fresh veg b4 it gets bad. most of my money go on poultry, fish and meat. Also, i shop in Tesco and Asda. 25 pounds is decent, if you are not trying to bulk up to do weights and gain muscle.

iViva la revolution!

About £25 per person seems about right. If you factor in meals out / takeaway then it may well increase. You say fresh stuff costs a lot, but it costs a lot less to cook things from scratch than buy ready made stuff.

I generally cook from scratch.

We spend £100 a week about for 4 people

Same here for 4 hungry students. That's our ASDA bill anyway, there's the odd sandwich from bakery and takeaway too though.

£15 buys one nights tea in M&S! Nice though.... :D

If you want to cook from scratch from M&S then it's very expensive, but some of their other stuff really is great value for the quality.

I'm eating M&S sausage and mash with onion gravy at the moment and have done some frozen veg with it and the whole lot cost about £2.50.

Living alone, without including the occasional takeaway, I spend anywhere between £20 and £30 a week - that includes making my own lunches and having four to five (small) meals a day. I don't include any booze in that ;) but it does include cat food, which is about £5 a week. Err, I'll quit rambling now.
