what do you think?? works or not?

hey guys,

I've just been playing with ye oldle camera and christmas tree.

What do you think of this shot?

I like the refleaction and the fact the backgrond is still kind of intresting.

I'll do it again in a minute and try and get the whole ball in the frame.

Any other suggestions?

Taken on a 450D with 50mm prime and external flash.

It's got potential because of the curved reflection, but the dark area at the bottom doesn't help it. Maybe try with flash and high shutter speed, then that might get the light in the middle while still having a curvy reflection around the edge.

edit: Just realised my monitor is showing it a lot darker than it is for some reason. Still, although this one isn't great, it's a good idea.

Your wife and kid look a bit perplexed.

Doesn't really do anything for me, sorry. Although maybe increasing the contrast and saturation a bit may make it look a bit better.

camera on a tripod, get more of the general room then.

IMO with less going on in the background would look much better.
