What does it feel like as you go under in surgery?

I got knocked out by injection a couple of months ago, wasn't bad they injected me once and I got a funny taste in my mouth and felt a little dizzy,

then the doctor went preparing something and I got a bit panicky because I wasn't getting sleepy, He was speaking to a nurse and I was making sure to make eye contact every time one of them spoke so the knew I was awake,

Then the doctor came over and gave me a 2nd injection and I woke up in recovery,

Felt really drunk and tired and went back to my room after a while, when I got up to get in my bed my legs were like jelly, just like being really drunk but that wore off pretty quickly

I went in for an OP when i was 13 as I partially severed my left arm falling off my bike  I was so pumped full of all kinds of lovely drugs that I was singing on the way to theatre. I already had a drip in and dont remember them injecting me with anything. When asked to count back from 10 I actually started counting upwards from 7....

Next thing I know I woke up in bed with the worst thirst ever 13 hours later.... Was like nothin I have experienced before or after. One minute I was awake and high as a kite. The next minute I was awake and thirsty....

I work in an Operating Theatre, and It is very, very quick to put someone under. You wont even know you have been put to sleep and operated on, until you wake up. People take to anaesthetic differently, most people become aggressive when they wake up, others are just sick and fall back to sleep. But either way you have nothing to worry about! Good luck.

I had an injection used on me and all I remember is that as the anaesthetic was injected there was a cold feeling running up my arm. It felt funky! I remember saying 'That feels cool!' in an excited kinda way and shortly after that I was gone.

When you wake up there is absolutely no sense of how much time has passed unlike if you were to go to sleep of a night. I don't know how long I was under for actually... When I woke I felt fine and dandy and walked out of the hospital within 30 minutes.

EDIT: Thinking about it, after I woke up my throat was a little sore. I guess it was the breathing pipe thingie they put in your mouth? At least I hope that's the reason!

I've been under a few times, and quite frankly it's pleasant. It's sort of like taking opiates but going the whole way to sleep rather than just into the fuzzy warm pleasant place.

No time passes, but when you wake up you aren't fully aware of what happened. For me there's always a bit of denial, where it doesn't seem possible that they've done anything.

The breathing pipe thingy they put in your mouth is called an L.M.A, abbreviation of Laryngeal Mouth Airway. Bit of useless info for you:)

I love the orange pills they give you in recovery for pain relief, they knock you out and you have fantastic dreams.

doddle going off to sleep, not quite so nice waking up, some peeps just slide up out of it, I need a good slapping and a bit of a shout. Always heave, and then always stay awake all bleeding night?? dont know why?
