What DVDs have you re-bought on blu-ray?

Band of Brothers and Heat, no brainer for BoB and Heat is a personal favourite so had to be done for the bank robbery scene and DtsHD soundtrack.

Hmm this could be a list! :p

  • Band Of Brothers
  • Sin City
  • Casino Royale
  • LA Confidential
  • Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
  • Hot Fuzz
  • Batman Begins
  • The Dark Knight
  • The Italian Job
  • Kung-Fu Panda
  • Children Of Men
  • Blood Diamond
  • Simpsons movie
  • In The Line Of Fire
  • Ratatouille
  • Leon
  • Flash Gordon (not much difference between DVD and BR quality I have to admit)
  • Children Of Men
  • The Shawshank Redemption
  • Blade Runner
  • The Bourne trilogy
  • Romeo And Juliet
  • Se7en
  • Saving Private Ryan
  • Gladiator
  • 2001: A Space Odyssey
  • Pan's Labyrinth

What a list! :-o

Is the BR a noticeable upgrade on the DVD then? As you say its a personal favourite of mine and would love it on BR, but only if there's a massive increase in visual quality. :)

None for 2 reasons.
Love film, which works out much cheaper and the fact I built up a huggggeeee dvd collection for it to be outdated. Blu-ray will be outdated even faster. You only have to look at mp3s and the way lovefilm, blinkbox, voddler are going. Will wait till such services start overing blu-ray quality downloads.

Definitely a step up, obviously the DVD is pretty poor, well the version I have, the sound alone is worth it, but the pictures are definitely a massive improvement over the DVD, worth a buy.

Nice one. :) I read some BR review site reviews and the verdict wasn't brilliant. And unless the reviews on Amazon etc are massively in favour of a BR version of a film I tend to ignore them as the reviews on sites like Amazon do tend to be a bit off target. :p

Blade Runner
Band of Brothers
Serenity (though to my shame, not Firefly yet... Christmas present I hope)
V for Vendetta

small list - basically it's either films I love and will watch again and again, or films/TV that deserve to be seen in hi def.

On my "to buy" list:

Battlestar Galactica (new version)
Firefly
Lord of the Rings

what hd-dvds have you re-bought on blu ray?

My blade runner hd-dvd got scratched to hell as has "The Island".

I do have BoB on DVD and I'm really tempted to get on Blu-ray and Fight Club is one I really want

Bought:
All the Pixar films released so far (hurry the %&*$ up with Nemo and The Incredibles, thanks), FF7: Advent Children (waaay longer version of the film to boot), Nolan Batman films... I think that's about it. I was never a massive DVD collector so I haven't had to replace too much and deliberately stopped buying once Blu-Ray was established so I wouldn't have to replace more.

'To buys':
Matrix Trilogy,
5th Element
LOTR: Extended Editions, whenever they're out (and hopefully better quality than the normal lot)

It's great that you can get a lot of things now for under a tenner, and even something huge like the new collector's edition of Avatar can be had for under £15 in regular supermarkets and high street stores.
