What film did you watch last night?

We went to the cinema to see Side Effects. Observations:

1) Good cast. Jude Law was excellent, though this is kind of his bag really - he works well when he's playing someone on the back foot. Rooney Mara was convincing.
2) PRODUCT PLACEMENT. Rolling Rock, Red Bull, BMW, Apple, Blackberry...
3) Having suffered with depression and whatnot in the past, I found the film a bit hard to swallow, in the sense that I kinda understand war veterans getting upset about WW2 becoming a source of entertainment. That's not to say there are no films about mental illness that I enjoy, but this one felt different somehow. Perhaps because of point 4.
4) OH NOES SPOILERS.

The twist from a story about mental illness, depression, drugs to what felt like a fairly by the numbers double crossing thriller annoyed me. I felt like the story started out as something quite interesting and finished as something quite dull.

The Avengers 7/10

Guess the hype got the better of me, found the first hour and a half pretty boring. Robert Downy Jr gave some funny moments and The Hulk was pretty epic.

The characters were all a bit to samey, like specialising in close combat and nothing else. I certainly came away feeling pretty disappointed after seeing it - and 7/10 may even be a bit to generous...

Goon 7/10

Fairly relentless, almost slapstick violence but a pretty enjoyable watch. Switch off for a bit and enjoy a bit of a different character turn for once from the lead, Seann William Scott (a.k.a. Stiffler from American Pie) who actually pulls off a pretty passable performance as the simple and well-to-do brute of the story.

A Serious Man - Coen Brothers film, so you might think it would be good. Straight after watching it I thought I would give it a score out of 10 and came up with Chicken.

Probably the most Jewish film I have ever seen, so I am sure some of the comedy went way past me.. Plus, the annoying thing is it just ended, with no conclusion.

It was a bloody awful film. Beginning couple mins was okay and it just went down hill from there.

Jews going to Jew.

Argo.

Amazing, so tense. Ben Affleck is coming along nicely as a Director. Hoping he brings out a few more like this.

Still not a fan of his acting though.

What about Mr "bow and arrow" man? :p

Watched this is 40 last night. Didn't realise at the start that it was a spin off to knocked up. As in the family are the sisters family from the film.

It was actually really good. Some bits in it had me howling with laughter. Well worth a watch! 8/10
