The Great Gatsby - wonderfully shot period drama. Looked amazing in HD and acting was very good however the modern soundtrack kind of killed the mood, especially when Jayzee (think it was him) blasted out from the tv at the start.

Didn't really see much point to the film though, was a simple love story with some entangled histories and a tragedy.

never read the book so maybe I should haha

7/10 - mostly for the way it was filmed.

The Amazing Spiderman - Really enjoyed it. Not as much as the original with Tobey Maguire, it didn't have quite the same feeling about it. Still a really good film though, in my opinion. 7/10. Would give extra points just for Emma Stone if needed

Oh boy.

Neal: You can start by wiping that ****ing dumbass smile off your rosy ****ing cheeks! Then you can give me a ****ing automobile: a ****ing Datsun, a ****ing Toyota, a ****ing Mustang, a ****ing Buick! Four ****ing wheels and a seat!

Car Rental Lady: I really don't care for the way you're speaking to me.

Neal: And I really don't care for the way your company left me in the middle of ****ing nowhere with ****ing keys to a ****ing car that isn't ****ing there. And I really didn't care to ****ing walk down a ****ing highway and across a ****ing runway to get back here to have you smile at my ****ing face. I want a ****ing car RIGHT... ****ING... NOW!

Watching planes, trains and automobiles on E4, god damn even after all these years and god knows how many viewings its a brilliant film.

A tired cliché but they don't make them like they used to.

10/10 for me.

The Graduate. I'm going to have to charitably assume that it's a product of its time, because I really do not see what the fuss is about. I really didn't like it. It started well, when Mrs Robinson first seduced him, but it had nowhere to go after that because he had no agenda or aims, and had nothing interesting to say about anything. He was fundamentally unlikable. He was a horrible person and he had nothing redeeming about him that I could see.

The soundtrack was tedious as well. I like Simon and Garfunkel, but there is no reason on God's green earth that anyone would want to listen to Scarborough Fair literally five times in a row.

It actually reminded me of Taxi Driver, his taking Elaine to the strip club compared to Travis taking Cybill Shepherd's character to the porno theatre. Except here he was doing it out of spite, where Travis was doing it because he was mentally imbalanced and had no idea what was appropriate. So I look at Ben doing that and think "Great, so at best he's a spiteful toad and at worst he's deranged and going to end up killing people." which isn't a great place to be landing your character.

Zero Dark Thirty is definitely worth a watch IMO.

Recently watched:

The Internship
Savages
The Conjuring
Kings of Summer

Was going to rate them individually, but they're all probably about a 7/10 for me.

The Internship; a standard Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson film. If you like their other stuff, you'll probably like this. Enjoyed.

Savages; Two Californian pot growers face off against the Mexican drug cartel who kidnapped their girlfriend. Directed by Oliver Stone and with a decent cast, it probably could have been better, but still worth a watch.

The Conjuring; one of the better 'paranormal suspense' movies, but it's a genre that's hard to really do something ground breaking - nothing new, but still good.

Kings of Summer; a 'feel good' film about 3 teenage friends who spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land. Again, nothing exceptional, but definitely an enjoyable watch.

All quite a change from some of the dross that I'd attempted to watch before them.

I enjoyed The Conjuring, got a few goose bump moments in it I'd give it 7/10, followed the next night with Paranormal Activity 4, which is a total let down and would get 2/10.

The film makes no sense, and the ending.........WTF?

Its ok, I found it a bit stupid stupid overall though, and the lead female is simply not likeable.

Unthinkable (another terrorist movie of similar vayne) is the better movie of the two and actually makes you think about the consequences etc unlike ZD30. Just dont go on IMDB comments as they give away major spoilers in the titles (bc some people have no lifes clearly)
