What film did you watch last night?

Oh good grief. Saw Into The Storm tonight. It was sooooo bad it was brilliant! Almost the whole cinema burst out laughing at the downright stupidity of it all. Such terrible acting but obviously a big budget for massively over the top special effects. It was hilarious.

Think, Twister, on a heady mixture of steroids and crack.

1/10 and 10/10 all at the same time.

So it's basically Sharknado but the Shark is a Twister or 3? :D

Was a bit soppy with the locket thing, when I first saw it my youngest was still a baby so it magnified the sop factor somewhat. But yeah, a remarkable amount of swearing for a cast of children (the hippy drops the f-bomb if I remember rightly) but I suppose that's how the young potty-mouths talk nowadays.
You're correct - was the hippy who blurted out the F word (I was shocked tbh!) but the S word is used by all. The swearing along with some of death and blood (when the guy gets chomped in the bus) did leave me wondering who the target audience is.

Lone Survivor. 7.5 / 10 . I enjoyed it.

Different view of the American military.... obviously true events so Hollywood could only do so much!

Missus didnt really fancy it but she was gripped by it at the end. Odd really as the outcome is already clear to the audience!

Xmen: Days of Future Past I actually loved this. Its been along time since I watched an Xmen film and this was great. I loved it from beginning till end. Good story, great acting and decent cg (Apart from 1 bit that was pretty poor). I will say that I cant understand the people that said they were confused with the time travel stuff as it made sense(as much as time travel movies can).

8.5/10

Took advantage of this week's commute to watch:
Back To The Future. Timeless classic - (see what I did there)
Jaws. Haven't seen it in years - Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw are just brilliant. Still not sure why chief Brody shouts no whistles though.

Been watching films on my iPad. So many things you notice in films compared to watching on larger screens because you're not having to scan so much :)

One other thing, I always thought Jaws was set on the west coast (California) but it's actually set (and filmed) on America's east coast!

Big Bad Wolves

Israeli thriller (subtitled) which is ultimately the blackly-humorous torture of a paedophile. Good acting and script. Some hilarious moments coupled with some really bloodcurdling ones. Good twist at the end. Tarantino called it the best film of 2013 and I can see why he liked it.

8.5/10

Yojimbo

Watched an hour of this critically acclaimed film. Just can't get into Japanese stuff. I tried watching Ran recently and as with Yojimbo, it all feels like over-the-top am-dram to me. Not to mention painfully slow.

What an awesome film. Simply amazing cinematography, so pristine as if you were living it for real. Fantastic soundtrack/LFE as well. So much grunt. Scenery was jaw dropping. Haven't seen a good car chase film… Since… I can remember. Especially going off-road. Was like a modern day flashback to the 80s/very early 90s. :D

I give it 8.5 because it's so visually appealing.

Thor: The Dark World - Boring, bland and lacking in substance. Don’t know why they bothered making such an awful mess. 3/10

I assume you watched The Collector first? Which is immensely better btw :)

The Collector was, imo, a superb film with "tight" focus and on the edge of the seat viewing, well at least it was for me. The second was a little meh by comparison and I'm not sure if I was influenced having watched the first but I really didn't care for the follow up film. It seemed rather bland and lasted far too long, but perhaps that was because I thought that it was boring.

The Collector 9/10
The Collection 4/10

I suppose if they made a third they could call it The Collected...?

I saw the Collector yesterday.
8/10.
The cat burglar is one of the most stealthy characters I have ever seen on film.
He was more stealthy than a cat, literally - the collector manages to even kill the cat - a trap which the cat burglar evades.
I saw The Collection first (ie. reverse order), but enjoyed them both.
