What film did you watch last night?

Haven't seen GOTG yet... I'll be sure to brace myself for disappointment :D
Did enjoy Winter Soldier though.

Godzilla (2014)

Not as bad as I thought it would be going by some of the opinions here, though I wouldn't say it was particularly good.

As DM says, some of the decisions made by the authorities were a bit 'special', but whatever. It's nowhere near as retarded as fighter jets flying directly into the monsters in Pacific Rim for example.
Unlike DM, I though the soundtrack was generic beyond belief and that's what mainly bugged me for some reason

My main issue was that I didn't see the Muto's as being a threat to him, and any other real criticisms come under real spoiler territory for those that haven't seen it, so we won't go there.

Other than that, performances were fine and there were some really sweet, but brief moments, but nowhere near enough to make this a firm recommendation from me fwiw. Worth a watch.

I didn't love the soundtrack, just a couple of those really well done shots(mostly near the end and not loads just a few scenes) and the music suited those shots, the general music in the movie was general whatever, I can't say I really remember the music from most of the film tbh. The most impressive shot/scene had music that went with it though it's ridiculously over used piece of operatic music used in so many scenes to try to lend a sense of tension.

Just those couple of scenes stood out, it was like they got in a well reknowned cinematographer or, frankly cgi artist but only had the budget for that guy to do a minute of the film.

Btw, I saw it before I read your review, so I wasn't especially listening out for anything :) I just found myself being distracted by the music and not in a good way.

Foot-Airport. That is all.
Moments like that were awesome, but there weren't enough and I didn't think much of the fights, though I guess they were trying to nod very heavily towards the old Japanese flicks in regards to the choreography.

I watched The Exterminator again last night, just a fantastic film, real gritty new York streets

soundtrack is just as good esp the opening intro

Kermode tweeted a while ago that he really enjoyed this film from start to finish. As, by the way, did I. I don't really like superhero films and was never interested in comics but GOTG is really excellent.

And what's not to like?!

Kevin Bacon/Footloose references.
Enjoyable action scenes.
Enterataining story with good pacing.
Plenty of charming, lovable characters.
I could go on....it's just brilliant.

A solid 8.5-9 out of 10 for me, easily the best film I've seen this year so far.

Really?

This film is trash on so many levels....I'm concerned of your sanity tbh...

It's not a a 9 by any stretch....it's a cliche post modern star wars trying to be clever....nothing happens

Get a grip!

I didn't enjoy it as much as most people did and also find it hard that people rate it as 9-10-11!! out of 10.

I love all kinds of movies and was excited to see this one. However during the showing I found myself and my gf looking at our watches quite often.

I'm just classing it as one of the few films I don't agree with the masses on.
