What film did you watch last night?

Innerspace - been a long time since I saw this and thought it would be good family viewing. The special effects were amazing for a film close to celebrating its 30th and it was a lot of fun too. 4/5

Blade Runner

For the first time no less.

Made the year I was born, and I will probably get lynched for this, but I don't get all the fuss.

SFX obviously great for the time, and some nice touches in some of the scenes, but Ford is Keanu Reeves level wooden, and the story just didn't grab me at all. Rutger plays a decent insane villain.

At least Hannah and Young looked fit in their youth.

6/10

Bloody kids. :D

Brilliant film and one of my all time favourites. Still have a copy of the Directors Cut. Lost count of how many times I've watched this.
Thought Ford was great in this, played his character very well.

but... but... but...
oh dear

I have… seen things you people wouldn't believe… Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those… moments… will be lost in time, like tears… in… rain. Time… to die…

Final cut cleared up some of the mistakes, and left things pointing more in the direction of Dekkard being a little one dimensional due to being a little emotionally immature, yet having to do the job of 'a man' ;)

The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window And Disappeared. Swedish film with subtitles and the odd bit of English including, seemingly, dubbing for his internal monologue. It's like a black comedy Forrest Gump. A bit of a comedy of errors, lots of chaotic mistakes leading to lots of deaths and suchlike. Pretty amusing.

Lucy - 8.5/10

Scarlett Johansson is such a great actor. After watching Under the Skin and this she has come into her own for me. Not just a pretty face.

A thoughtful action movie. rare enough to see.

Reviews said it wasn't as good as it could have been. I'd agree. It was essentially Limitless with some Matrix thrown around. Expect more from Luc Besson. Could watch Scarlett Johansson all day long though so it gets a 6/10

Oh my lord, I loved this film as a kid and I completely forgot about it until now! Thank you so much! I'm going to relive it!

It started out ok, but then got completely out of control if you ask me, utter garbage.

Each to their own, but that film was a massive pile of ****.

I thought if they had taken the Bs science bit out, and just said ' the drug is affecting her abilities' instead of expanding her brain potential, then it would have scored a couple of extra points in most peoples scoring.

The science gibberish just threw wtfs around too much. Let in the matrix it was acceptably sci-fi. I think this is where the script went wrong. A simple change could have improved acceptability.

Into the Woods

Went to see it last night with my other half. There were lots of families watching with us.

I loved the start and how each of the fairy tales intertwined with each other, and then it just went crashing downhill - just after the two princes began their song and dance routine I believe. I nodded off for a few minutes on five occasions after that only to wake up and see the kids in the cinema talking, running around or playing with their parents mobile phones. I saw a few folks leave too.

I just felt it dragged on for way longer than it should have. Would rate it higher if James Corden's char was killed off.

3/10

American Sniper - 6/10 - I first read the book back in Jan 2012 so my recollection is a little hazy but I'm sure quite a lot of the action scenes have been "Hollywood'ed" in the film in comparison to the book where he spends 90% of his time being a Sniper rather than busting down doors for the majority of the time as per the film. I thought Bradley Cooper did a very good job and Sienna Miller was outstanding but overall the film just lacked something for me.

I Origins (2014)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2884206/reference

A young scientist and his lab partner set out to dis/prove, once and for all, the origins of mankind by studying eyes and the chromosome for sight in various species. Over several years they collect data that they feel ends up proving The Big Bang is the correct theory, and gain some notoriety.

Fantastic film, highly recommended

8.7/10
