What film did you watch last night?

Robot Jox

1/10.

It didnt get )/10 because it had mechs in it.

You know there is a sequel :D

Everly (5/10)
Lots of action and squibs galore, suppose its a bit like a film versíon of 'horde mode', whereas Selma Hayek, looking hot, fights off waves of baddies from her apartment, dont really know what the plot was.

I thought if they had taken the Bs science bit out, and just said ' the drug is affecting her abilities' instead of expanding her brain potential, then it would have scored a couple of extra points in most peoples scoring.

The science gibberish just threw wtfs around too much. Let in the matrix it was acceptably sci-fi. I think this is where the script went wrong. A simple change could have improved acceptability.

Yeah, agreed.

It went way past the point of silly, even going into it knowing it was going to be totally far fetched it still went way too far.

I gave up about 30 minutes towards the end... its truly awful. Selma isn't a good actress and plot was non-existent.

1/10

Is it on any off the Netflix?

Not sure I watched the blu ray as I don't do streaming (quality snob :p )
Doubt it's on there yet as it's fairly new and not a mainstream film, hopefully I wrong though. Whatever the case I highly recommend you try to get your hands on it, the sort of film that keeps you thinking long after the credits have rolled :D

The Book of Life (2014)

nv2ENZx.jpg

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2262227/reference

Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart, embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastic worlds where he must face his greatest fears.

Saw this little gem last night whilst babysitting two of my nephews, great animation from the fantastic producer Guillermo del Toro (Pans Lab. - Devils Backbone ..etc) and director Jorge Gutierrez. A nice breath of fresh air in the somewhat stagnating (sp?) animation genre.

Highly recommended
8.4/10

The Riot Club (2014)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2717860/reference

Two first-year students at Oxford University join the infamous Riot Club, where reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening.

Saw this great gritty british film a few nights ago, probably not a film for you if you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth though! lol :p

Highly recommended

^ Which some people enjoy and so would give it 8/10 in their opinion.

You do know that people are allowed to make their own opinions don't you :p

Just got round to watching The Interview, it was a little absurd but funny enough.

Funniest line:
When Kim did a slam dunk and then said 'ow my ankles', it was very subtle and slightly smarter than the rest of the film (relying on current events knowledge)

American Sniper 8/10

Solid film, will I remember it in a month, probably not but never felt bored and the acting and pace kept me intrigued.

American Sniper: 8/10.

Very entertaining. Needed more sniping though...he spent half the movie spraying away with automatic weapons :O

The Hobbit Trilogy (TolkeinEditor 4.5 hour fan cut) - 6/10

I only saw the first of the original releases and it was so dire that I didn't bother with the other two. Assuming as much themepark dross, cheese and plain nonsense was cut from them as from the first, this is probably the only sensible viewing option. Barring some slightly jarring pacing now and again this hangs together pretty well. Smaug was ace, but the Murkwood and Laketown segments were dull and the Battle of the Five Armies a tedious mess even in cut-down form.

Taken 3.

I hope the director of this film never works again. Every action scene was difficult to watch, with about a million images being shovelled down your eye holes every second. It actually hurt to watch.

The story was average. Milked..

2/10

The Fighter 9/10

AWESOME film, very intense, emotional and you could really feel the conflict between each of their paths, amazing acting from Christian Bale, probably one of his best films, I do rate him very highly, and he's British so maybe I'm a little biased!

My top Bale films:

The Fighter
Harsh Times
American Psycho
The Machinist
Rescue Dawn

Unbroken - 8/10

True story about about Olympic runner / WW2 hero Louis Zamperini, crashed in the pacific and spent 47 days in life raft, and ended up in Japanese POW camp.

Sadly he passed away months before the film was released.
