American Sniper, was a near perfect film apart from that damn fake baby and a break in immersion with one guy yelling "get some mother ******" during an assault near the end. I'm sure some soldiers are like that but it didn't fit with the whole feel of the movie. 9/10 for me.

I have but no way is Lucy a 8/10 of movie....:p it's popcorn trash....

^ Which some people enjoy and so would give it 8/10 in their opinion.

You do know that people are allowed to make their own opinions don't you :p

I'm assuming easyrider is a super, super serious individual?

Lucy got 94 out of 100 on AVS. It truly is reference material. Super clean immaculate picture. I've watched it twice on Blu-Ray and loved it. The blacks and colour grading are spectacular.

How much "USA USA USA" is there in American Sniper - Or is is predominantly an action film ? I heard the last 40 minutes was like having the star and stripes pushed up your ass and down your throat at the same time... I hope thats wrong...

Spoiler tags please

Heaven Can Wait (The 1978 Warren Beaty version) - 7/10

I have a soft spot for this film :)

Heaven Can Wait (The 1943 version) - 7/10

I watched this over the christmas period, totally different to the above version, and a charming look back at society and values of a hundred years ago.

American Sniper. 3/10.

Horribly paced, found myself bored in the cinema and actually went to get a snack. Good acting by Bradky Cooper who played the role well though. Can't see all the hype with this one at all. Far too much American over Hollywood'ified scenes. I think it did a terrible job of depicting war and stresses involved. To me it felt neither here nor there. It wasn't an all out war realistic film nor was it a film that focussed on PTSD and the after effects of going to war. It panders so much to the American audience it was physically nauseating...no doubt it will do well in the awards season though. Was hoping for much better.

The theory of everything 6.5/10

While there's no denying the ability of the lead actor to get into character, I just felt the film was too short with not enough story telling throughout for such a fascinating character.

Woman in Black "2" : Angel of Death

Usual sort of jump-scare horror film. No gore, plenty of loud bangs and quick camera turns to scary face type of jumps. Story wasn't too bad, characters were so-so. Was rated as a 15 but I couldn't really see any reason for the 15, would have been just as suitable rated as a 12 imo.
I'd give it about a 5/10 but generally I agree with your summing up.

The cinema experience, however, just reminded me why I hate going to large multiplex chains. Kids too young enough to be there screaming and giggling through the entirety. Two people playing around with their phones on what must have been the brightest setting possible. Then a lassie who decided to throw up in the cinema making no attempt to leave until she had done it 3 times. Clean up crew came in and spent ages cleaning, the majority of the time stood at full height so blocking the screen all the while shining their torches with beams facing toward the audience. The door to the cinema was propped open with fire extinguishers. Probably to minimise the whiff of the spew, but also letting light flood in. The screen next door finished earlier than ours so we also got all the noise as they left. We got a full refund but even so a bit of a waste of an evening. 0/10 Cineworld Stevenage

my opinion of Lucy has provoked some strong reactions :)

An 8.5 was a little generous maybe.

However i still reckon the storyline of what could happen if we use more than the 10% of our brain was a fun one.

It will not win any awards, but it entertained me and that is what it is all about.

I watched Everly, Salma Hayek's new flick.

Yes it's got a plot that's pretty bad but Salma Hayek spends most of the time in a nightie so there is that.

:D

Not a lot at all, no more than any other US made war movie. The end is very pro-american but with good reason, can't say more without you actually watching it.

Loads of action, way more than I expected.

I think you have to credit Clint Eastwood for making an OK war film, that caters to the yeehaw pro-Americuh crowd, who will see Chris Kyle as a super hero, and also throws in a bit of, not so much anti-war, but a view of the effects of war on a man.
I don't think it was a bad film, but I think they made the character a bit too "clean". There have been quite a few arguments about the actions and words and claims of Kyle, certainly after the war, and some of his claims have been disproved somewhat, suggesting that he is a BS Artist.
Bit of a weird one, making a film about a person with a questionable character. Didn't do much for me. But I am sure the US audiences will lap it up.
The end.

Interstellar - Thought it was brilliant. I didn't really mind the ending (which I know has divided opinion). 8.5/10

I Origin - Not bad, I think they could have done a lot more with the film and the investigation that they started 2/3rds of the way through the film should have started 1/3rd of the way through.

The sound quality of a One Direction record maybe outstanding using state of the art recording studios and equipment.

But this does not make the music great.

;):D

In related news, the 1977 era special effects in the original Star Wars film were rubbish.

3 Days to kill: 6.5/10.

Was OK. Nothing special. This has some comedy aspects to it. I would have disappointed if I'd paid to see this at the cinema.

Unfortunately that (IMO) doesn't in anyway make up for the film being utter gash
