What film did you watch last night?

The Grand Budapest Hotel. Really good. I love the colours and the photography. The cast is excellent. It's like a fairy tale. It's really stylised and over the top but it leans hard into it so it works.

I shall have to watch this. I saw a trailer on TV the other day and it looked really good.

The Wolf of Wall Street.. last night on BD. 8/10... I still think its slighty too long, and some scenes are OTT... but its a great watch regardless.

And went to see Big Hero 6 at the cinema this morning... a great family film, that we all really enjoyed 8/10.

Wild Card.
Jason Statham in a no brainer arse kicking flick. The plot is rather predictable and there is a wtf decision at one point but the action doesn't let you down. I enjoyed it and would give it 7/10 for meeting expectations of a Statham film.

Blade Runner.

I find the middle (or part of the middle) not as good as the rest, but overall I think it's a very good film with fantastic lighting and music. Great performance by Rutger Hauer.

Nightcrawler 9/10

Lou Bloom is one seriously messed up individual - brilliant film. :)

I think it's a travesty that Jake Gyllenhaal wasn't nominated for best actor and Riz Ahmed for best supporting but then again they did give Titanic best picture so what do they know about good films and acting?

The Zero Theorem - Terry Gilliam film which feels a lot like Brazil (mix of very old and very new) but is not as good. Christoph Waltz is fantastic, fun to see him playing a weaker character after being used to such confident ones. Overall though I think it was weird and a fun shortish film. 3/5

Interstellar

I am not usually a massive fan of sci-fi as most of it tends to be 0TT, in this case I was a little right, it started OK but as soon as it got in to it I could see it coming, started becoming a bit far fetched for me especially near the end

Saying that I wouldn't give it too bad score, its a bit out there but OK the story somehow kept me watching.

Anne Hathaway was In it too.

6/10

Me and the mrs watched this... There was bugger all action and it was really quite dull!

4/10 from me.

Did you watch the same film? :p Granted the fighting wasn't every 10 minutes but when it was there there was a lot and it was pretty violent, especially the back of the cafe scene!

John Wick

8 / 10 - You know what you're getting going in, a violent revenge thriller. Wasn't perfect, but good Sunday night movie to make me not think about going back to work. Plus, a few nice cameos.

Watched True Grit (2010) again as it was on BBC2 last night

Not watched it since it came out but id forgotton how good it is
Amazing Cinematography - the views / backdrops are stunning
Acting is top notch from Bridges, Matt Damon is also good and the girl is insanely good seeing as this was her first proper film

Its got an authentic "realistic" feel to it as well which is usually missing from Westerns

They can't be doing much wrong if you're referring to a film released 18 years ago :p

There was like, 2 big fight scenes, the rest was of Statham getting ****ed playing Blackjack :p

The end scene felt like it was tagged on to me, like they didn't have enough violence throughout the movie so put one final bust up on the end. The film could've finished before that scene and no one would've cared any differently imo.

A few films I have watched over recent days:

Cloud Atlas - 6/10
Interesting film but a little confusing as I fervently watched trying to string together the connections between different ages.

Nicely filmed and interesting watching but not convinced about the plot.

Devil's Knot - 7/10
True story about three missing boys and the trial of their abducters. Not knowing about the actual true events before hand it made for good watching as you try to determine who dunnit. Also, interesting watching Colin Firth with an american accent having previously associated him with a quintessential english man. Just doesn't seem right !

Transcendence - 8/10
I liked the story behind this sci-fi film. Has some interesting concepts that get you thinking. Definitely worth watching if you like near term Sci Fi films ie pretty much based on current day as opposed to hundreds of years in the future

Cargo - 7/10
Great Sci-Fi film with a good plot. The filming and sets are reminiscent of Alien and also has a female lead. It is a German film so may not suit those who don't like subtitles but if you can live them with them, definitely worth watching.

Kingsman - 8/10. Pretty simple premise to the film and there aren't any real surprises but a very entertaining film nonetheless.
