What film did you watch last night?

Big Hero 6...strong start, good fun then got bored about halfway through to the point I nodded off for 10 minutes or so.

Disney struggles when Pixar aren't involved...about a 6/10

John Wick. 9/10.

Keanu Reeves is brilliant, didn't think he was a good enough actor to play an ex hitman, but he pulled it off great.

Took me by surprise, didn't realize it had so much action and bloodshed in it.

The Good, the Bad, and the Weird.

7/10 - this Korean Western was let down by a lack of dialouge and poorly explained story, but saved by Kang-ho Song (The Weird), and lots of gunslinging

Fido.

What the **** have i just watched? 2/10

The Zombie equivalent of Lassie!

"hnnnnngg" What's that Fido, Johnny fell down the well?
"hrrrrgggg" He's stuck and needs help?

I enjoyed Fido :D

Recent films watched

Ex Machina - 6.5/10 - Normally I love this type of Sci-Fi film, totally story driven. But as good as this was, I just felt it was a little too slow and ponderous at times.

The Drop - 7/10 - slow, smoulderingly intense thriller with another great performance from Tom Hardy.

Interstellar - 8/10 - Really enjoyed the story line, good acting, and was able to follow what was going on.

The Theory of Everything - 8/10 - Good solid film, which enlightened me about the life of Hawking's.

Interstellar - 7/10 Good concept and story line. However, very slow in parts and could have quite easily cut an hour out of the film. For me this is a watch once film.

American Sniper - 8/10 Solid, solid film. Enjoyed this from start to finish and great acting from Bradley Cooper! I didn't realise this was based on a true story until the end and which really made the whole film have great closure to it.

I agree. Great start, then just got a bit over the top and turned into a ripoff of marvel films. Strange.

Not quite last night, but the other day:

The Theory of Everything

Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones.. directed by James Marsh

Superb story, superb acting, and superb examples of human selflessness and determination.

Redmayne rightly deserves an Oscar for his performance of Steven Hawkins..

9/10 - superb

I took my son to see Big Hero 6 Sunday

tbh, it was better than some of the marvel films, particularly Guardians of the Galaxy rubbish.

Light hearted animation for kids which he enjoyed.

6/10

American Sniper 8/10

Great film, some pretty tense action scenes, I had no idea how the story panned out so I was surprised
he didn't die in war, instead he died at home years later at the hands of a nut. Very sad. I'll be buying the book for sure.

John Wick - 7.5/10

Flimsy and light on the story line but made up for by some great action scenes and sequences. Keanu Reeves played the role really well. Not a classic but enjoyed it.

The Equalizer - 8.5/10

Better than John Wick. Denzel Washington was very good imo. Good story line and flow to the film. Well worth a watch.

The Book of Life - 8/10

Very very good animation. Love most of Guillermo del Toro's work and this was no different. Could see his input in the design and animation. Probably not aimed at kids too young as the story does get a bit sad but nonetheless I really enjoyed it.

The Purge - 4/10

A nice idea but awful in it's execution. Acting is poor and bar a bit of excitement towards the end it's incredibly dull and boring.

Kingsman: 8/10. The love child of Stormbreaker, 60s James Bond and Jason Bourne, from the director/writers of Kick Ass, and takes itself lightly enough to self-reference those sources, and wrap itself in those clichés.

Ultra-violent, and ultra-sweary (to the point where the impact of the swearing is lost). I enjoyed it greatly, but Harry Hart is not your mum's Mr Darcy. Make sure you stay past the first couple of minutes of credits to get to the final scene.
