What film did you watch last night?

Watching mad max fury road, dire, very tempted just Tito switch it off, there's like 1 3min action scene and that's it. Can only assume there must be one more action scene soon for the ending. But good god what a rubbish film.

You don't like mad max fury road.

You preferred the avengers 2 to guardians of the Galaxy.

You preferred the hobbit to Lord of the rings.

At this point it's safe to conclude I should just assume the opposite when it comes to your opinion on films :p

I liked them all, except for MMFR. First time I tried watching, I turned it off after 10 minutes. Second time I stuck it out, hoping all the time it would get better. But, it never did. I was no wiser at the end of this, as I was at the beginning. Hope to god they don't make a sequel.

Well I quite enjoyed MMFR.

The action was spectacular. I sat about 3ft from a 48inch screen and it was intense. I'm not sure but I think the word is visceral. I felt the movie as well as watching it. I dont know why people were expecting a good storyline or oscar winning performances, MM has always just been about the action imo, and they got that spot on.

You dont win 6 oscars and a get a best picture nomination without doing something right.

Oh, come on, you keep saying that line like it means anything. Winning an Oscar doesn't equal good or even deserved sometimes. And the 6 Oscars that MMFR won, none of them mean that the movie is any good. Makeup? Hairstyle, Sound mixing, sound editing, costume design, production design and film editing. You can win all those awards and still have a crap movie.

Not trying to change your mind about the film, If you enjoyed it, that's all that matters. I agree with you about one thing though, spectacular action sequences and the movie is probably best watched on large screen with a really good sound system. It didn't do it for me, but I can see how the action would have carried the movie for some people.

How on earth could anyone with a brain in their head prefer The Hobbit to LotR...

Laid up with the flu so I've been attacking the films last night and today

Based on recommendations here:

Bridge of Spies - 9/10
End of Watch - 8.9995/10

Both brilliant, I really enjoyed them. Next up is The Man from UNCLE

Olympus has Fallen - 6/10

Typical US of A Hollywood rubbish, but I shamefully enjoyed it :p

Didn't think I would manage 30 minutes of it.

Been going on a weird DC animated binge on Amazon Prime during recent weekends. Not sure why to be honest... any way this evening's dose of DC was something a little different. I decided to finally watch Man of Steel.

While not as terrible as I've been led to believe, it was a strange film. Indeed it felt more like an Alien invasion film than a superhero movie. Also, being a Batman guy I can dig dark and gritty, but Superman isn't that... he's Christopher Reeve. Lois Lane's nose was very distracting too.

Overall, I'd give it 7 louds out of 11.

Still looking forwards to Batman vs. Superman though...

I disagree, most of the movie is action, Albeit the story isn't fantastic, the action most certainly is. Not going to find may more, with this much action and so well presented too.

lol, what this guy said. You must have the attention span of a 3 year old with ADHD if you thought there wasn't much action.

Got me thinking the same. It is nothing like any of those actor/characters.

One of my top films from the last few years, another solid JG performance. From the moment Public Enemy's Harder Than You think kicks in, i'm drawn right back in each time I watch it.

Love the end scene where they roll it back a bit as well to when they're just chatting, genuine acting chemistry between these guys.

Agreed, great film.
I like all of David Ayers films.. Harsh Times was a little better than End of Watch though IMO. If you've not seen that. Check it out.. Highly recommend.

Get ready for a drop in quality ;)

Oh dear, you weren't kidding. I ended up checking up on this thread while watching it.

Man from UNCLE - 5/10

Probably a 6.5/10 most days but after watching two spectacular films just felt a bit disappointing.

Followed up with

The Martian - 8/10

Big Hero 6

Good, animated fun with a mix of sad bits, funny bits and actiony bits. The plot is deeply obvious from the start and the whole thing is a little bit nonsensical but it doesn't really matter because it delivers where it matters.

7.5/10
