What film did you watch last night?

Transformers: The Last Knight (2017) - 1/10

A terrible, incomprehensible cacophony of chase scenes, action scenes, explosions, and awfully delivery plot scenes.

The plot is weak with far too much going on, the film runs far too long with poor editing, and the attempts at humour are atrocious.

It’s obvious that a lot of effort and money had been put into the production, special effects and large scale spectacle, but ultimately, it’s all for naught.

The first film in as long as I can remember I've actually considered walking out of half way through.

After antman (great script wtf were marvel thinking losing him) I hope this is accurate!

Last thing I want to do is raise expectations to stratosphere levels so don't expect the Godfather, but know what it is, it is an enjoyable heist/car chase movie with a great soundtrack.

JAWS 10/10

Was supposed to watch it at an outdoor cinema on the end of the North Pier, but it got cancelled last minute. Bought it on Blu Ray for a couple of quid and watched it at home instead.

Still as good as the first time I watched it.

Elysium - 7/10

Didn't really like it when I first saw it when released but watched it on Netflix today and it was enjoyable. Blomkamp has fairly limited range imo but what he does he does from good to really good. It's nothing amazing but entertaining, well paced and I always enjoy Sharlto Copley especially as a villain.

We didn't even make it half way (very unusual to bail out on a film) just couldn't connect with it!

Watched Suicide Squad last night. Very disappointed. The trailer's better than the film.

Thats what you get when a movie trailer company edits your movie at the 11th hour. David Ayer is a proven director, End of Watch is one of the best movies in the last 20 years. he's also got Fury & Harsh Times under his belt.

There is probably a decent movie there but after the success of Deadpool, this took a different turn to Ayers original vision.

Total Recall (1990)

Great film. Love Paul Verhoeven's style and the different ways that the story can be interpreted. Sharon Stone was stunning too.

9/10

As good a director as David Ayer is, he's made his name doing police/crime dramas. I never really felt like Fury was a David Ayer film and can imagine Suicide Squad being even further removed.

Not bothered to see it after "Trailergate" and awful reviews, would love to see what Ayers was actually trying to make.

I can't decide if this one is as big a mistake as Marvel V Edgar Wright/Joe Cornish, obviously they had spent over a decade getting to the point of making it, what was left is still one of the best movies in the MCU, almost entirely due to British humour flourishes
(I'm going to disintegrate you, play disintegration by the Cure)
but as light as it obviously was, what could have been, may have even been the first classic Superhero film, we'll never know (on both counts).
