What film did you watch last night?

Hotel Rwanda, finally! Thought is was very good, I was especially interested to learn that the European colonials had pretty much created the problem by essentially creating both sides!!

Babel

Can't make my mind up on this, nothing really stood out except for the contrast created between the locations.

So-so.

The Book of Eli

Been looking forward to this so long (while doing my best to avoid any reviews) and was quite disappointed with it. The scope of the message behind the film was well beyond what it could offer and I wasn't too fond of the over-stylised post apocalypse environment. Some of the action scenes did prove entertaining if brief but I really can't give this more than 5/10.

Robin Hood.

Even Riddley Scott can't polish the turd that is and was merry old england.

Don't get me wrong, it couldn't be any better from a visual standpoint, but doesn't scream the glory of Rome, taking away the epic in the process.

Tbh i preferd the prince of theives, that had the magic and tons of character, quite the opposite from what i saw last night. Where it fails the most, Crow being such a strong leading character, they well underplayed his men, little john, will, alan ect... there was no rooting for the hero's when they battled it out, bringing the joy and the sense of purpose and worth, making it all fall rather flat.

6/10 Better than average because you can't ignore the production values, but average fives for being an expected Scott epic picture, and a magical Robin Hood tale.

Harry Brown 6/10 was good, but not as great as everyone has made out - I for one prefered Gran Torino.
Also Slumdog Millionaire, Fantastic Film, 8/10!

Das Parfüm – Die Geschichte eines Mörders. German Swiss film set in France with an English-speaking cast. Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman are both outstanding. Benedict Whishaw performs adequately in a minor supporting role, with a convincing CGI nose. :)

Cargo. German sci-fi movie about a lonely young woman who shags a bearded terrorist. In space.

Snap! I also watched Hotel Rwanda this weekend.

Me and the gf started watching it quite late into the night and I wasn't sure if it was the type of film to be watching when tired. But we both got drawn into the pilot quickly.

It is a very decent film and worth a watch.

City of God - very good although the translations (it's all subtitles) don't help when watching it, some of them are sort of odd american phrases you can't really imagine these kids saying.

The Spirit - well I would pretty much like that hour and a bit of my life back really.
