What film did you watch last night?

Fanboys - 7/10 unless you're watching with a bird who constantly asks "why are you laughing" everytime there's an "in-Joke" or cameo, like some kind of moronic repeating parrot from hell thats slowly pecking away at your will to live, then it's a 0/10 :(

Tonight: The Exorcist - BluRay, apparently a few things are different from the original version?

never actually watched it before. was a great film, enjoyed it. The girl was also funny at times :P

Gangs of New York (again, with the wife this time). Really enjoyed it again, probably more than the first time. My wife even rather enjoyed it, which is rare with my movie collection!

8.5/10

Gamer - didn't think that they still made films like this anymore, it seemed like an early 90's sci-fi but was a 2009 almost now film about fully intractive games with real people as the avatars. Very enjoyable for small role actor spotting and entertaining enough for its short run not going to watch it again though. 2/5

Citizen Kane. I'm not going to rate it, as I don't think I'm able to. The acting was ok, the plot rolled along well enough, it had a few funny bits, the photography was good but... best film ever? Most important film ever? I don't know about that, and I don't think I could really comment without knowing a lot about the state of films at that point in history. It'd be like me looking at a whole load of Renaissance art - pretty enough, but without a degree in art history I couldn't tell you anything about why it's important.

The Men Who Stare At Goats - Nice film about USA military exploration of psychic powers, loved the set up and the first 2/3s of the film but it very slightly lost its way after that. Enjoyable performances by all, made you think what sort of stuff they really did (nice little documentary on the disk assumes that they did everything in the film and more). 3/5

Went to a screener of the Social Network last week - was brilliant, much better than expected. Sound track really put a sinister edge to it

not last night but

Full Metal Jacket 7/10

seen before. but wow the first part of this film is intensely watchable. it is gripping and awesome.

the 2nd half of the film less so. infact id say its pretty bad. the effects are naff, the blood is naff, there is no real tension. no real epic scale to the battles or battle areas. its dissapointing compared to how well the first half was achieved. ive always disliked the 2nd part.

The Bad Lieutenant :Port Call of New Orleans

Another dangerously dark performance from Nicholas Cage. decent film if a little contrived but well worth a watch for a superb Nic Cage performance as a cop on the edge (drink, drugs, money etc). Also well worth a watch for some very skimpy outfits worn by Eve Mendes!!!!

7.5/10

Land of the Dead. 5/10. Nowhere near as good as Dawn of the Dead imo (the remake).

Ropey acting from some characters, predictable, somewhat unrealistic (OK, it's a Zombie film, but for a zombie film it's still unrealistic).

I started watching King of New York but had to stop after an hour or so because it was just so, so bad.

I can't believe Christopher Walken was associated with this
