What games do you wish were on Steam?

Pizza. You should be able to order it through steam.

On a more on topic note. Blizzard games. I would say EA games but its not the fact its Origin only that keeps me from buying Mass Effect 3, its the part where its an atrocious end to the series.

+1

+ Sacred 2 GOLD!

Unfortunately Sacred2 gold is unlikely to happen as due to publisher issues Ice + Blood expansion was only released in Europe plus the fact that since Ascaron went bankrupt the game never was patched probably to enable it to work properly with Windows 7

Everybody wishing that Steam was the only option obviously have no understanding of how market economics work.

No competition be it digital distribution, or retailer is a bad thing to wish for. Unless of course you would like all your purchasing decisions dictated. There would be no need to have pre-order incentives, or any form of discounting. Plus you can forget about customer service too. What you going to do? Shop elsewhere?

Everything.

I'd say publishers are missing a trick with Steam. They should be embracing emulation and republishing older console and arcade games that work with Windows. I know GOG do a similar thing, but Steam has the audience to make all those old classics top sellers again. Providing they're not overpriced like some of Sega's Megadrive games are on Steam.

I'd probably say GoG games. Mainly because it's all under one roof. I like what GoG do with the old games (i.e. fix them to work on Windows 7) and whilst there have been a lot of old games mentioned (such as Grim Fandango) I'd like them to work on Windows 7 with no hassle.

Of course, I agree - steam being the only option is silly and the same could be said about say, origin.

Competition can only work if the end user has a choice of what service to use (and no I don't mean either play the game or boycott it). So in that respect steamworks games are just as bad as origin exclusive games. There's also the additional argument of simplicity for the end user.

why does it have to be on steam, most of the ones mentioned can be bought for a couple of pounds on retail, install and away you go.

This is one of the biggest problems in PC gaming today, Steam fanboyism. I don't see how people can be so supportive of a platform in which you don't own your games, has DRM, and sometimes has issues with launching games ("the steam servers are currently too busy to launch the game you already have installed on your hard drive").
