So we want to try lobster / tails this weekend having never eaten it or anything even close like crab etc

Just not part of our south Asian cuisine so don’t really know what to serve with / sides that compliment together.

Any suggestions?

Personally, I don't like to despoil good quality seafood with unnecessary distractions.

Good lobster is nice as it is, but to make into a full dish, lobster/big king prawns are nice with just pasta and a little simple white wine-based sauce.

Clarified butter, mixed with roast garlic and parsley to dip it in.

Possible Sides:

Mac and Cheese, top with panko breadcrumbs and a little truffle oil

Dressed green salad, lemon and honey vinaigrette.

Grilled sourdough w/cream cheese and chives.

Grilled Corn on the cob, and tajin butter.

Vinegar based coleslaw or quick pickled cucumber and carrot.

Super simple, you shouldn't need much with it.

Missed a nice slab of ribeye to go with it

It's overrated in my opinion.

When I lived in New Zealand we went diving out for crayfish (basically same thing) and they were good.

Over here unless you are prepared to pay £££££££ at a restaurant that does good lobster the ones you get here generally are small and a bit meh.....

I prefer crab, although even that seems to have gotten really expensive in recent years.

I agree with the above comments, I'd keep it simple with a good dipping sauce on the size, maybe good quality chips and salad.

If you want something different, try deep fried oysters, I can just about tolerate those raw, but deep fried they are really nice.
