What happened to this part of the forum?

My tuppence worth. I only pop in and out of here because there are hardly any coherent discussions. The place is still plagued by endless fanboy bickering, mine is better than yours and small snide remarks. Then add the endless reposting of bloody benchmarks we’ve all seen on different sites but hey we don’t have anything else to back up my mine is bigger than yours and I can jiggy at “x” fps faster than you so you and yours are inferior. Benchmarks are the only measure we have so just use them wisely.

Some folks still need a reality check. Yes there are two camps but there is no war. Impart information, tell us about the good and bad bit but don’t denigrate one another.

Having said that there has been an improvement over the past month or so and long may it continue.

Im not being funny but a lot posts in the GC section get childish over nvidia and ati. Fanboys need to put their difference aside. Grown men fighting over graphics cards.

Been reading this forum for years finally signed up about 1 year ago when the ban hammer

was coming down I will stick too reading as the Two sides don't effect me its just good

reading but moderation is the key and boy does this section need it

@ jokester

can we not have a sub section
AMD and Nvidia
will keep the fanboys in there respective rooms

That relies on the better nature of the individuals causing the disruption... and they wouldn't be causing it in the first place if they were a little better natured.

Good post.

I don't know why there is all this bickering between Amd/Nvidia camps all the time. It just ruins what could be a good forum. Especialy when Nvidia are clearly better.

Personally I think there should be 2 sub forums.

One that is a "released card" sub forum, for facts info and general apples to apples benching.

The other being "non-released card" sub forum, for conjecture, speculation and general rumour milling.

So not to mix the both up and the people who need advice will get their info and people who want to chat about up coming releases in the other.

I doubt it will ever happen but it is the best idea I can come up with. I don't think each company should have their own, if people can be mature with those two sub forums I've suggested then all will be smooth.

Theres a difference between healthy debate and what often happens here where it turns into borderline personal attacks, snide comments and so on when someone doesn't like someone elses opinion.

I think the Dons/mods do a pretty good job most of the time.
Is, is that not who you were talking about? :D (the :D means I'm kidding, before I get a warning or a suspension or anything!)

But seriously, I'm pretty new here but the ATI/Nvidia rivalry does seem the most fierce (compared to say AMD/Intel or, I dunno, Corsair/Antec).

But I think the whole forum suffers a bit from people largely defending their own stuff rather than being objective. Although I guess they felt the stuff they had was the best before they had it too or they wouldn't have bought it...

Picking up on the op's concerns, & having read all the boring bickering that goes on, what is the average age of those ending up in "debates" in the GC forum? I can't help but feel not long after puberty years with some "tech-know-it-all-better-than-you" war to win. Not flaming here. But that's how it comes across and I can see why some members may leave. It hardly leaves a forum that others may want to take serious once they've first visited.

This forum has always been a bit of a joke, it was no better when Loadsamoney, ulfhedjin and Tom where around, they weren’t exactly non biased themselves.

Best way to handle it is don't get involved in stupid arguements, it really is that simple.
