As Title.

Ive had a few different ones, and used ones recently and i still stand by my S700i

So S700i gets my vote, For its gorgeous screen, its still decent 1.3mp camera. and its reliability has been great for me :D

w810i would definately be a contender for best phone - it it good at everythgin it does and have few few short commings. something no other phone can claim right now. k750? hell no. not with that joystick. too many people with too many broken k750's to proclaim that. w800? more of the same.

But the W810i was neither the first or the best.

I was just saying its by no way different to your bog std phone, and I would fine it hard to give it the label "best".

ok well ill give you some reasons then :)

* its very easy to use. not quiet as easy as symbian phones, but not far off and a damn sight easier than others.
* the os is FAR more stable than either symbian or windows. the gf hasn't had a single problem with her camera not working, running out of memory, phone slowing down....something ive batteld with every symbian and windows phone ive owned and played with (more than a few)
* its well built - feels far more solid than previous SE phones
* it has a great camera - better than most of the rivals
* it has more memory built in than most symbian/windows phones
* supplied earphones are fantastic for a phone. music quality is very good. better and louder than the symbian phones ive tried

bah im sure theres more. anyway, there's a lot of reasons there. can you think of any why it isn't better than the competition?

For the time it was an amazing little phone that, apart from maybe the joystick dying after a couple of years, was pretty much faultless.

It's difficult to say and it's very tempting to choose a newly released model because of the rapid advancement of mobile technology.

But over the past 3 years, and for its time, I would say the Sony Ericsson P900/P910. It's still the only PDA phone I've come across that hasn't forgotten that it's supposed to be a phone as well as a PDA. It's fast and stable for a smartphone and even the battery life is pretty good. Not only was the phone good, but it came with a decent sales package including a desk stand. It was also released at a time when other PDAs lost all of their data when they ran out of juice. Not so the P900/P910.

It's probably the phone I used most of the past three years and the one I found best suited my needs after the shiny-factor has worn off. I still use it as my backup phone.

I'd agree with the P900/10 statement above

I also loved my Nokia 8910.

I have an 8800 now, and it isn't as reliable as the 8910 :(

Is the P990 out yet?

K750 or the K800 definitly. The first phones to actually have a camera that can compete with proper cameras (res and quality) plus just being all round superb phones.

k750? hell no. not with that joystick.

Actually I think thats what really tips it over the edge. A friend has the W810 and its aweful just because it doesnt have the joystick. Yes they can get a bit iffy but not all of them do and the pluses for it far outweigh the minus points.
