It's been 8 months now since the first release of Vista, yet i still too this day preach to my customers when they ask if it's time to upgrade not too move away from the reliability, the stability and usability of XP.

I have explored the usual avenues of testing and evaluation but am unable to find a suitable reason why Vista would be a viable upgrade path for not only businesses but home users also.

Id like to here peoples opinions on what they have gained from a day to day working perspective of the operating system as a whole over what is still available and in my opinion a very stable platform being XP.

Some good comments here guys, im in agreement that a lot has been changed under the hood and that the last 6 years of development hast simply been a marketing exercise for Microsoft.

Namely improvement in the area's of usability, security and interoperability between platforms plus some future proofing on the network side for support of IPv6.

Perhaps i will eventually move over but like Windows XP the service packs have just started too appear for Vista give it another 6 months and it should be a reliable platform with full support across the board for both software and hardware vendors.

Vista may well be here to stay but a lot of people are treating it as a fad, something new to play with.

When XP was released the uptake and satisfaction was far superior too that of the Vista launch, this forum alone is testament to the fact of how troublesome the migration is.

I dont disagree with moving technology forward i too see myself of a innovator when it comes to specification new solutions for businesses and thinking of alternatives to the norm but i haven't and wont be advising my customers to consider a move for along time to come and dont get me started on Office 2007 compatibility problems in networked environments.

If you look into the grand scheme of things consider that a business as substantial as RBS/Natwest has only just completed a move from NT Server and Desktop too Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP Destop.

Finally!! Ive actually found something useful with this operating system following a blackberry client software install it blue screened then rebooted and told that there was a compatibility issue with said software and pointed me to the appropriate download page for updates....

The cheeky bugger is still getting rebuilt to Xp no matter how helpful it is...!
